I sure hope that people who read these food talk posts take them with a grain of salt. I have been in the restaurant industry for 21 years in the Shoals, and I can tell you that 75% of what is said here are rumors, lies, or over-exaggerations of the truth.
It seems that some people can never be pleased by anyone, anywhere. And they are usually the ones to run their mouths. I have always believed that it should be mandatory to either work in a food place or sell women's shoes by the age of 21. Those have to be the two hardest jobs on the planet. And I think that would give everyone a much better attitude when dealing with other folks.
Please remember that you are directly effecting people's livelyhood when you post remarks on this forum. No one gets into the food business for the money (there isn't a lot there), so they must do it for the love of the industry. And when you spew venom like I have seen here you should know that it can have severe consequences.
I'm all for sharing opinions, but sometimes it goes too far. As far as I know there is no Shoals Food Critic here, so please don't act like you have professional training in this field unless you do.
Real people with real house payments just like yours get seriously financially damaged by what you rant here. Please try to remember that the next time your fries aren't as warm as you would like for them to be. Maybe they have had a bad day - like you have sometimes.
And please share your concerns with MANAGEMENT OR THE OWNERS. No one can fix a problem that they don't know about.

proud, you made some good points. I'm all for giving credit where credit is due. BUT....if I'm going to pay for a meal, I want it to be worth eating. Most times a manager will make it right if made aware, but I have seen manager's that will say, "Oh, I'm sorry" and walk away. I'm sorry if a waiter/waitress is having a bad day, but they shouldn't blame their customer's by giving bad service. That $15.00 tip my husband leaves for good service doesn't go to those that doesn't give it. Wink

seriously?........2 hardest jobs on the planet? here's what should be mandatory by age 21: the military (unless there are medical issues). and about the money: yeah , some do love the industry, but there's a tremendous amount of restaurants in this area for money to NOT be a factor. granted, micky d's ain't making much (if anything) on their dollar menu , but don't they make up for it on other items? i mean, $1.50 or so for a cup of soda or a handful of fries? there's bound to be quite a mark-up there.

This is so true, I really believe that is how more daughters became so personable. They learned early how to deal with people. I wish sometimes that I could have given them more, but them having to wait tables taught them alot.

Sign up for a couple of trips to catch King crab and then tell what is the hardest job. Or, join a bomb squad.

FOR REAL! i work in skilled trades , mostly in the heavy industrial sector. it's generally regarded as a pretty hazardous environment, but i feel like a big wuss compared to those cats on board the 'TIME BANDIT'!
Nice job.and yes this is hard work .I was a carpenter for 30 years and running a place is not as physical but much more stressful. and yes alot of complaints are not justified.some people just look for whats wrong and forget why they came to that place.things go wrong some times but Ive found most complaints are not real.the key is know what your ordering.and then judge that item on its self. also the servers and staff .people take time to train and not all work out but you give it time to see.sorry if you are there when the make a mistake..we all do......................

Some people look for whats wrong with everything, not just food and service.
It makes some people feel big to constantly find something wrong. Belittle to be big..I had a JR Ewing-want-a-be-dude, tell me when I was waiting on him, "that this would be a good place for a resturant."
I say I am more worried about how I can not do somebody wrong, than how bad someone else is doing me.
