PICKUP HITS MURKS PEST CONTROL TRUCK AT PINE & CYPRESS MILL ROAD

They are still on the scene and so is Air Vac. @ 9:00am Thank GOD this didn't happen a little earlier when School traffic was heavy. I travel that way to Hibbett Middle School.

That ought to take care of the bugs in the area for a while.

From people at the scene, I was told thet the vehicle involved was being chased by police, beginning somewhere in East Florence. The tracks he left show that he entered the property at the northeast corner of the intersection, tore up some Forsythia shrubbery a short way in, then proceeded for several hundred feet over a slightly uphill course before striking a tree head-on. He rippped out a steel-post mounted "No Parking This Side" sign, tearing the post in two. Don't know why he was fleeing, but it's a pretty good bet the dude would have done better for himself by pulling over. By the time I arrived there, the Murks truck had been towed off and the Medevac chopper had left, but police still had the scene blocked off from the intersection and for about 400 feet further west. Had to detour. A TV cameraman was there, so this should be on the local nightly news. I think it was Channel 19, but not sure.

Sorry BeternU.....................He was NOT being Chased by the police. He was slumped over the wheel. Either a Heart attack, or maybe a seizure. Not sure yet. He turned down Cypress Mill rd. toward KFC heading to Pine St. Fully Accelerated and hit Murks at the intersection, still fully accelerated and flipping several times in the air throwing pieces of the pick up from Pine to area of rest about 3 blocks down.
But yes, you are right..........He did hit a tree & also a fence. Or he probably would have been in the peoples house. More than likely will not make it. The Truck looked like a pancake.

Thanks for the correction. I was not altogether confident about the information I was provided, and that is why I qualified it as being what people at the site said. Never can tell what people might say. I had to wonder why he drove so far into the residential lawn area without stopping. Perhaps it was because he was unconscious.
