My first question is, how old is your daughter?
I am not judging you, but do have some experienced advice to offer you.
I can tell you that most likely, she will regret it!
Several years ago (when I still had a descent figure) I had mine pierced.
It took 6 weeks before I could stand to even touch it, and after all of that pain & discomfort, I ended up having to take it out because it got infected. And believe me, I took very good care of it. Maybe even too good.
Maybe you should ask your daughter to think twice about it!! Ask around, and get more opinions from people with experience!!

Well fire, I have to disagree with you on this.
A lot of people get their children's ears pierced as young as 1 year old. It's something that has been going on for many many years.
But would you pierce your 1 year olds baby's belly button? Think Not.

Point taken....but for the sake of argument let's say it is a 15 or 16 year old. Do you, personally, see a problem with that?

At 16, I guess I would not have a problem with it. I would prefer my daughter wait until she was 18 to do this, but at 16 years old, I guess I'd agree to it if she REALLY wanted it. Now her daddy on the other hand, now that would be a whole different story if ya know what I mean!! LoL!!
Dano does great work, I wish he would have done my tattoo, but oh no I could not wait till the next day to go to athens, bad bad mistake.

I hate my tattoo it is not at all what I wanted looked better on paper and that where it should have stayed.I told the guy to add ghost smoke and ever ask him did he know what that was and he assured me he did. Well this guy had no clue and now I am stuck with a tattoo that I HATE.

Lesson Learned the hard way!!!!

~*~Freebird~*~: Go see Dano, if anyone can fix it, he can!!
I had mine pierced at West Coast about 10 years ago and I never had any problems what-so-ever out of it. I even kept mine through one of my pregnancies. I kept it in right until the very end. When it was over, I put it back in later. I have since done away with it but I had absolutely no problems with mine. It's cute and your only young once... I, personally, don't think it is that big of a deal. It isn't permanent. If she don't like it later on she can always take it out.

I had my belly button done here 8 years ago and have never had any problems with it becoming infected.
The thought of it makes me cringe in pain. My cousin pierced my ears when I was three with a needle and ice cubes. I remember it but can't recall it hurting. She was in cosmetology school and I was her guinea pig.

I took my daughters to walmart to have their ears pierced but if either of them wants a belly button ring or a tat, that's something they'll have to do on their own. (Not coz I'm a prude but because I'd probably faint lol)
the reason to go to a tattoo shop to get a piercing is hygiene. NO place cleaner than Dreamland. and the Army recruiting office moved Firedancer. LOL. They are in the mall now. Dreamland is still beside Bank Independent in Florence just down from Mars Hill. Kyle will do the piercing. a great guy! looks like a pin cushion but a great guy none the less. and now here is a suggestion.
i know lots of people who had their Gyno pierce their bellybutton. LOL. i know Dr. G's office will. now that is hygiene! next time she goes for a checkup ask them! Big Grin

I tried to get her to have her nose pierced....i think a very small diamond looks cute on some people.....she said that was gross...lol.

Does she ever think about the jobs she has eliminated herself from by the cosmetic changes?

The piercings are removable. I had my tongue pierced at one point in time and one of the reasons I took it out was because I wanted to find a "real" job. (The other reason was at the advice of my dentist-The metal balls on the barbell can cause tooth damage.)
Unless the tats are down her arm on on her face the employer will probably never know.

Luckily, her tats don't show when dressed in street clothes...and you're right about the tongue/tooth damage. S-D has a lot of detnal damage because of it.
I think it is hard to improve on the human body as God rendered it, and to me, piercings and tattoos and graffiti and vandalism. These alterations do absolutely nothing to enchance the beauty of the body. It would be interesting to see a psychological study regarding what motivates individuals to pursue these body modifications.
So Sheldivr, I guess makeup, nail polish, hair color, etc. are taboo also? And what about deodorant? After all, the smell that God gave us can't be that bad. What constitutes "enhancing the beauty of the body" varies with different individuals. Personally, I don't like blue eye shadow (on a woman). But who am I to say it's vandalism on her body? Other cultures have been doing body modification for thousands of years. I say to each his own.
