I agree Dilly, the only reason they do come is because someone says "You're Hired". Jail THOSE people first and I seriously believe the number will go from 3,300 a day to half.

As long as somebody is paying them, they will keep coming. It's ok for corporations to hire them especially knowing they can't provide ID or SSN, or they provide a false one? A simple background check would solve that. I always have one when I have applied at a new job. Why can't Pilgrim's Pride and others follow this?

And so noone has a goose. NO I am not an illegal immigrant. Spanish is my second language. I'm a white American (legal) female.
The payback for companies like Pilgrim's Pride, etc. who hire illegals far outweighs the risks. The illegals will work longer and harder for easily half of what American workers will so unless the penalties for employers become MUCH stiffer, they will continue to play illegal immigrant roulette and the only ones really winning are the employers. The illegal workers have no protections (insurance, job security), the American workers lose out on jobs, but the employers whistle and smile all the way to the bank.
They do need to "go after" the ones hire the illegal alliens. But right now employeers do not have a chance to now if they are illegals. Thay can only check to see if they a valid SS number/valid ID. They can not tell if the SS number is also being used by some one in New York or California. Go after the employeers that hire them, but give them a fighting chance.

I'm sure there are more things that just an SSN that could be checked. I'm an American and I got the third degree for my last job. My husband was fingerprinted for his!

It's a lame excuse. Americans that can't find jobs should be fighting mad at these corporations who hire illegally. It's the most unpatriotic thing of all. There are plenty of LEGAL migrants who would still work for nearly as cheap. We could solve a lot of our poverty/homelessness if corporations rallied around the country and it's people instead of smuggle work from other countries.

But why not give them a few more tax breaks?

It is a shame...

And the tension it is causing between the economic classes and different races is only getting worse.

But the problem still hangs on the heads of big corporations and the politicians they have purchased.

I have done what little I can by boycotting chicken. I personally hate the taste and smell and having to touch it. But i DEFINITELY don't buy it anymore. I know it won't save the world, but maybe others who feel like I do could make a dent in sales and start something. (Chicken was the most practical because I KNOW it would have an impact locally. )
At Wayne the Mexican's were picked up in a Wayne Poultry bus at a work camp near the Texas border and driven back to Decatur. They were processed through human resources. I personally saw green cards with birthdates showing born in 1982 for example. This was 1990. The person should've been 8 years old, it would be a 35 year old male. Administration told me to ignore it, that it was none of my business. I did not ignore it. I called Immigrations.

That is good. I am pretty progressive and liberal. But I also believe in following the law. And right now, it is plain and simple illegal. I realize they want to better themself, but we can barely take care of our own much less the rest of the world. There are still displaced, homeless people left from Katrina. It's just very unfair. And more people should be complaining to companies and figuring out WHO is contributing to this mess. If they can't sell their product because Americans are angry over their hiring practices they will either a) revamp them or b) bankrupt and everyone will be sent packing.

All of my hispanic (LEGAL-Some American born but 3rd or 4th generations) friends are angry about illegal immigration. The rest of the country assumes everyone hispanic is illegal. And some of my friends have never even been across the border to Mexico. It's only fair to those people who do the right thing, fill out the right papers, and wait.

And it surprises me that a President from a border state took 8 years to really recognize a border problem. I'm not blaming him. I know this has been going on for YEARS. But to be governor of a state really affected by this problem. He surely didn't push the issue. He didn't necessarily do anything wrong. He just didn't really do anything.... which is sometimes worse. And he has had plenty of time. 8 years is almost a decade!
you know, alot of these people working there are working on s.s. numbers that are stole from people that have died i know this to be true it happened to my late husband s.s. number i was call a year and a half after he died for a bill. from the hosp. saying he hadf been there oin april 2005 for the flu boy i was shook up my daughter had to call back to make sure i heard rite anyway we tracked them to a bussness in m.s

Well, of course. What else could it mean? Smiler See, my hick accent just wasn't corresponding to your Southern well enough. That's a clever choice, btw.

Yo-Russ, I find the same thing. A friend of mine teaches students that have immigrated here from other countries. The ones that have gone through the proper channels, which is quite an accomplishment, resent those that come here illegally. They understand why just like I understand why, but that doesn't make it acceptable or healthy for our country.
