My heart goes out to all the families involved in the tragic loss. I personally only knew Alan. I went to school with him so we go way back. I just seen him last week when he brought a patient to our clinic, he always had a smile on his face as he loved what he did. This county will suffer for years to come as we have lost the best paramedic we have ever had. Alan lost his life doing what he loved to do, helping others. To the families my thoughts and prayers are with you, look upon the lord as he will give you the strength to get through this terrible time.
I've known Alan most of my life. He always found ways to

impress me. He was a gentleman, a leader, a teacher, a

fun-loving spirit, and especially a hero! He was a best

friend to my brother; while lending his talents as an EMT

many times over again to help my father whose health is

failing.

I know that he must have been with people of equal

character. That is the only way that Alan would travel.

God knows that he will be missed, along with his

co-workers.

My heart goes out to those that are mourning the loss of

loved ones from this horrible accident. I wish I could help.

I am just so very sorry for your loss. Alan, was a dear

friend of mine. I didn't know the other two, but I'm sure

they were fine people, as well.

Goodnight, "Turbo"
Sweet Jesus, so often we don't understand..We must trust You to bring good from this horrible tragedy..
for the families and friends of these dedicated people, i ask You to envelope them with Your love, and give them the Peace that passes all understanding..in the days and weeks ahead, help us know how to comfort and encourage each other..
i will miss my friend..see you on the other side, Alan..
My Prayers Go out to the families of the brave air evac team. They will truly be missed. I know I always felt a certain comfort seeing them fly over my house knowing we are special to have this great service right here in our own back yard cutting down on precious eta times compared to people in other cities where a life saving service like this with a dedicated team we have might not be available. If you guys saved one life then you have changed the world for so many, and for this I think you all.For your service and dedication, we will not forget you.
I heard the news of the crash early yesterday morning, even learned the names of the victims from my husband early on, but it wasn't until this morning that I figured out my connection to one of the members. Tiffany Crowson Miles graduated high school from Winston Co. High in Double Springs in 1996. I followed her in 1998. I didn't recognize her married name until my husband told me where she went to school. We even played saxophone together in the band. This tragedy just gets even worse when you realize that you know one of the victims. Tiffany was always quiet and kind. One of those people that never said a cross word. We came from a small high school, roughly 80 people in each class. Things like this hit hard on a small town like Double Springs. I pray for the other members of AE16, but my heart is especially with the Crowson/Miles family at this time. May God be with you all.
Hey there everyone. Just wanted to follow up for those of you who knew Alan, Tiffany, or Mike. This is on a good note though. Bruce Carson and Doug Hartley are setting up a fund for the three of them at Bank Independent. For anyone that knows Regina or the others left behind- this would be a great way to show the appreciation to them that we were never allowed to show with their early departure from this earth. We all know that they are Up There smiling down. If you can't make a donation to the family- at least pass the word around to others who might be able to. God Bless!!
To the best of my knowledge, they just had a memorial service in honor of them at Helen Keller's helicopter landing pad. I wasn't able to attend due to working, but I trust that their memories were honored, and that is what will get their family and friends through a very difficult time. May God grant them all with his Grace and the power to take each day, each moment walking in the peace and comfort that only God can give. Especially to Regina, I am praying for you, and asking God to give you Grace for each moment, and also I am ever reminded that as I send my own husband out to do his very dangerous job, I am mindful that he is never promised to return once the day is done. Every day is a gift - that's why we call it the present.
I lost a very good friend and neighbor when we lost Alan Bragwell. He will be missed greatly. He was the kindest, gentlest man in this world. He has a wonderful family that is suffering greatly today. Please pray for them!

From what his wife told me a moment ago, there will be visitation at Underwood Baptist Church on Tuesday. Greenview Memorial will be handling the burial. She was going to do the final selection after our conversation...None of this is definitive yet, but that is the latest.
To all the EMS extended family--

I would like to send out my heartfelt condolensences to you guys. I did not know anyone but Alan, but I know you have lost a great deal. You guys put your lives on the line every single day so others may live. I want to say thank you and bless you. It is terrible that something like this has to occur to make us take a step back and look at the value that our service persons have in our every day happenings. Thank you and God Bless!

Ditto!! Very well said.
Just to let everyone know, Allan's visitation will be 4-9 Wednesday at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence. His funeral is at 1 o'clock Thursday at Underwood Baptist Church in Florence. Tiffany's visitation is 4-9 Thursday at Woodmont Baptist Church in Florence and her funeral is at 2 Friday at Woodmont Baptist.

Thank you all again for your prayers and condolences.

Also they are asking if any department with Honor Guard personnel who are willing to assist at their funerals to contact Lawrence Huffman at 446-9813. Thank you
From everybody at Keller EMS, we would like to thank everbody for their prayers and generosity and all of the food people have brought by our office. We can't thank you enough for everything that you have done. And a special thank you to all paid and volunteer fire departments for what you did for our fallen heros. Your effort in this tragic time of our community is greatly appreciated. You will not be forgotten either.

Sincerly,
Adam aka Fluff aka T.R.
Sorry you guys, I know I keep posting up. I'm kinda beside myself. Not really able to concentrate, just like everyone else that I work with. So please hang in there with me.

I have a question, hopefully one of you might know the answer to. President Bush passed this law, that if a firefighter or police officer dies in the line of duty, their families where entitled to a sum of money. I've spoke with some of the fire departments and police departments around this area and no one knows if EMS personnel are included. We work side by side with them, but usually aren't considered to be heros like them. Trust me when I say this. The firefighters and police officers deserve this, hands down. They are our heros. But I do believe that EMS workers and volunteer firefighters deserve the same.

Air Evac has set up a fund at Bank Independent for the families of Allan, Tiffany and Mike. Also channel 48 has set up a fund for them at Listerhill Credit Union. Please pass this word around. I know they will need the help. Chances are EMS and the volunteer fire departments were not included in this law.

Between Allan and Tiffany, there is 6 children and their ages are 1,4,11, 17, 17 and 20.

Thank you again for your kindness and prayers thru this tragic time.

Sincerly, Cindy
Several members of our EMS community have stepped forward to establish funds for our lost Brother’s and Sister. We have established funds in several key locations that should be convenient for our coworkers as well as the general public. These have been established at each branch of the following banks and credit unions;

Bank Independent
Valley Credit Union
Listerhill Credit Union
Redstone Federal Credit Union

We are working on flyers to be placed at each site and they should be in place on Wednesday. I have contacted the Times Daily and the Local TV Stations and we are working on the local Radio Stations to get the word out.
If anyone would like to assist with fundraisers or fund drives for the cause that would be great, just make your contributions to any of the above locations.

The Bank Indepenent, Redstone Federal and Listerhill account will be active for around 30 days, the plans for the Valley Credit union account is to remain active for 60 days.

Please continue to pray for their families as they have a tough road ahead.

You should be able to contribute at any Branch of the listed banks and credit unions. If you have any problems or need an address to mail any donations let me know.

For more information feel free to contact me.

I would think that since these people were on duty they would be covered under workman's comp and their company's liability insurance. Most companies have separate coverages if you are hurt or killed doing your job. Or on company time. Considering the nature of their jobs I would think it should be substantial. At least, it should be substantial.

I have no idea what Bush has come up with.

Every time I see the Med Flight copters I worry about them. I've never met any of the nurses or EMT's that weren't wonderful.

I would think that all 3 fit under the definition of a local ambulance crews.

Spouses and the children should also qualify for the Education assistance as well.

I didn't know this particular crew, but I've worked with many other AEL crews in my career. I wish peace to all 3 families, you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
This is a testimony of Allan's character. Channel 19 said that Allan had over 800 people at his funeral. At our church last night during choir practice people were saying such wonderful things about Allan, how he flew to Huntsville w/one of our men, and prayed with him. Also another lady said how Allan always picked up her husband for kidney failure and would pray with him every time in the ambulance. What a testimony of God's grace in Allan's life and how he touched thousands of people.

And Tiffany is a lady at our church's sister-in-law. She was such a sweet, quiet and kind person. Always professional, and courteous. And people can't understand the peace her family has right now. It is peace that only Christ brings, when he takes one of his children home, like Allan and Tiffany, he gives those left behind who are Christians also the Grace to make it through each passing moment.

We will never forget you three. Your kindness and compassion to see that the people of this area were well taken care of will not go unnoticed.

Take comfort family and friends, the Lord has wrapped his loving arms around them, he has prepared a special place for them in heaven. We're not guaranteed tomorrow. Take hold and grasp every second you have in this life, appreciate it, and thank God for it.
It was SO touching to see all of those helicopters flying around our church while the Memorial service for those lost in the Air-Evac helicopter started. I have never seen so many flight suits on so many people standing outside our church. What a loving way to remember those who have gone on before us. What a loving tribute to those who gave their lives to save those in need. R.I.P Tiff, Allan and Mike.
I wanted to share this poem with the people that knew Alan that wasn't able to make it to any of the Memorial services that has been held in our area. This poem was written by Justin Flannagin who is a Keller EMS Paramedic, for those of you that didn't know Alan or didn't know him well, he was a paramedic with Keller for 17 years and drove the 902 ambulance. Grab some tissue as you will need it when you read this poem, but it the perfect poem written for the perfect medic"

I can't believe that you are gone, it hardly seems real.

We are all left standing here, not knowing how to feel.

We know that you have left this world for a much, much better place.

But it is really hard for us, we miss your smiling face.

We don't know how to deal with this, our hearts are filled with pain.

We can't even think EMS without thinking of your name.

You were always there for us with kind words or good advice.

You were good at many things, but the best at saving lives.

You were our fearless leader, a mentor, a brother.

Your life meant so much to us, there will never be another.

Even thought you've left us, we somehow know that you are still here.

I'm sure you're looking down on us telling us to dry our tears.

We miss you so much, but we know we'll make it through.

We know that you will watch over us, our angle in 902.
Thanks for posting that poem. It fits Allan perfectly. He would have loved it. (too bad we don't think of things - I am speaking to myself and about myself) while our friends are still alive. I try to tell everyone of my friends and family how much I love them, but this really makes me want to stress it to them even more. Never promised tomorrow.
But I know I'll get to see them again one day in Heaven.

Let me begin by saying "thank you" for the support from the entire community. The magnitude of our loss will be felt for many years to come. We are heart broken and devastated

I can't say anything about Allan and Tiffany that hasn't already been said. They were great friends and fabulous to work with. Mike had been with us for almost a year and had already become a favorite among most of us. He was a great pilot, an awesome cook and one of the most selfless individuals I have ever known.

Personally, My wife and I shared a relationship with Regina and Allan away from work. We went to concerts together, as well as, camping, boating and weekend road trips. My wife and Tiffany had been involved in scrapbooking together. Mike came to our house for thanksgiving dinner. We truly were family.......

I can't reveal any financial information. I will say that vick13 is correct in the assumption that they will be covered under the Air Evac employee umbrella. Their families were financially assisted within about 24 hours and will receive benefits from the deaths of each of the crewmembers. I will not say what the end sum will be but I can assure everyone that the spouses dont ever have to work again if they do not wish too. The children will be taken care of, including their educational needs in the future.

The only reason that I would even address that is to assure everyone that they will be taken care of.....A life is worth so much more than any material value but we must take care of the ones left behind and we will.

I want to thank Steve Thornton for his help with a memorial fund. This is something from the community and shows support to their families...This alone is worth twice it's dollar value.

I also want to thank all police, fire and EMS agencies for participating in the funerals and memorials. The Memorial on Saturday was probably the most stunning display of honor I have ever seen. The Coast Guard performed flawlessly along with the fly-overs, taps, bagpipes, slide show, prayers and finally the last call from CEN COM......It was unbelievable.

For those who have called and come by our base, Thank You.

This is a tragedy that will shape many lives forever. We will start to rebuild the base next week. There will be several meetings to confirm who will continue as a flight crewmember. We know that several will choose to end their flight careers and for that I am sorry. We all have sole searching that will take place over the next couple days. I havent faced the reality of making the choice of what I will do yet. There will be crews standing in for us when we return to service until we can come to grips with climbing back in the aircraft...I am not ashamed to admit at this point I am scared.

Again, Thanks for all your support. Please continue to pray for everyone involved.

Bruce Carson
Paramedic Supervisor
Air Evac 16
Bruce, I have never even been in an aircraft for fear, so that alone shows what courage and strength you possess as a flight paramedic. I know that whatever decision you make, Rebecca will stand behind you. We had special prayer for you guys this morning at our church, and Sarah also (Tiffany's sister-in-law and in-laws, who are members) where the memorial was held. We lift you up daily in prayer. I worked at Shoals and then at HKH for six years. But just remember this one thing Bruce, the decision is yours to make whether or not to fly again, but God doesn't take any of his children home one second before He is ready. There is an appointed time for each of us to go, and when that time comes, God's plan is fulfilled. We can't understand his plan, but this time he took the best. It was their time to go, and all our days here are numbered. The only thing that matters is what we do with the time we are given. They fulfilled that time here, even though it was short. They helped people to the fullest, time and time again. Their mission is over, and ours just beginning. Each day is a gift. That's why we call it the present. May God Bless you and Rebecca and give you strength to live for Him, and let God guide your wings.

Mr. Carson, I don't know you or any of your crew, and I did not know those that have gone before you. Your post touched me deeply and I have to say that it takes a big man to say what you did about being scared. I admire your honesty, and I'm sure you aren't the only one of your crew that feel that way.
I'm sure that Allan, Tiffany, & Mike will be watching over you when you face the reality of the choice's you have to make.
I wish you peace in making the decision that is ahead of you.
