It seems that there is a lot in the news this week about sexual abuse, leading me to wonder what others think about how an abuser should be punished. Since the subject is so sensitive, rather than asking people to post their opinions and having to ID themselves with their user ID, I thought I'd set up a poll instead so people can participate anonymously. So here goes. My question is very specific, and I would ask you to assume that you KNOW for a fact that the abuser was guilty.

Anyone recall the case in Florida several years ago, in which a young boy was sexually abused, the perpertrator caught, and as he was being excorted through an airport, the victim's dad, pretending to be talking on the phone, turned, placed a gun to the guy's head and pulled the trigger? IIRC, the dad was found 'not guilty' by reason of temporary insanity.

I have seen that tape replayed on many real tv shows, many times... I thought it was Louisana though... my bad.

Anyway... does anyone ever what the Top Docs throughout the Nation telling people that there is NO CURE for a pedophile???? If that is the case, then why do we keep letting them out? Or do we just not believe the National Doctors???

But FIRST things first... Before any of the actions above could be put into place, we STILL have to presume innocence until proven guilt. That gives a new meaning to the question.... IMO.

Actually it was Louisiana. My kinda place.
I voted from the gut. Of course, no one really knows what he or she will do under any set of circumstances until actually confronted by those circumstances. I see more voted for imprisonment for the miscreant.

As a nurse, I am surprised at how many say sever a certain part of the anatomy. That would be very hard to do and keep the guy alive for futher torture. Gonads could of course be severed, as could all four limbs. The tongue could be excised and the eyes blinded. This would have to be done over a period of time, so that the evil-doer did not go into shock. That is from the gut. Intellectually and morally, I would hope to let our courts have their way with the bum.

The point is, he wouldn't live that long by doing it that way. Sorry, it's the one thing you have to leave intact, unless you're sure you can keep a patent cath going.
But FV's point doesn't MEAN that you can't just poke out his eyeballs and pull off his ears!

Remember the woman who caught her husband cheating? She didn't tell him she knew, she just treated him to a little kinky "let me tie you up" slap and tickle. After his hands and legs were tied up she poked her curling iron up his heinie, set it to HI, closed the door, cranked up the CD player and left.

(You know, I think about this stuff a lot. Maybe I need counseling?)

I remember it and you've got it all wrong. It was in Nashville and the father was convicted and went to prison.
Ya know, everyone thinks they KNOW what they would do in a situation... as did a very close friend of mine, until it happened to her child... the guy was arrested long before the shock wore off... Court for these guys is a joke right now anyway... something really needs to be done to make it TOUGH on guys who messes with children... THAT is why so many want to take it into their own hands.. because left to the law, the plea agreement will put them back on the streets in less than 2 years...

THAT is sad.

BUT, on the other hand, if a full grown woman is raped, and it is proven in court, the perp usually gets about 25 years!!! I just cannot seem to wrap my brain around the way we handle pedophiles vs. rapists on adults.
