I don't think anyone can say the church is "cozy" with muslims....
We try to be respectful.... i just do't want there to be any twisting of catechism and I dont want anyone to throw out the idea that the church supports christain hating muslims.....

Whenever the pope, as some kind of alleged spokesman for God and His church, makes some silly blunder, it is surely convenient to rationalize that he "stuck his foot in his mouth," isn't it? Many, many popes over the centuries have stuck many papal feet in their papal mouths!

With regards proof, I asked Jesus about this and He said He had shown you, but you choose not to "see". However! If Jesus gives me information for you I will let you know.... I still mention you in my evening prayers. ** as crazy as that sounds, that's my honest answer.
If you go deep in prayer and reach for God my experience has been He reaches out and responds.
Having Jesus respond, or having the Holy Spirit give you insight and answers is not unusual.

You're right, the Pope is just another elderly guy in a fancy dress, surrounded by gold and jewels and as human & fallible as anyone else on earth. HoD, if many people have a direct line to God, what purpose does the Pope serve?

I appreciate your efforts and lack of cynicism HoD. Do what you feel is right. It's obviously not what I would choose to do but I won't try to burst your bubble about it. As far as Jesus himself telling you that he has already shown me proof that I willingly chose to ignore ... ... I would say that if the creator of the universe himself wanted to catch my attention, it better be somewhat impressive. I can't be blamed for having some minimum standards from the guy that created existence itself, especially since he made me (& so many others) with a brain wholly incapable of faith in the absurd. Your god knows exactly what he needs to do to catch my attention.

The pope is a leader of the faithful, a witness to God.
When He established His Church, Jesus placed the Apostles in charge of caring for the faithful, of teaching them the faith and caring for their souls. And He placed Peter at the head of the Apostles. Through Apostolic Succession, that same hierarchy willed by Jesus, exists today in the Church with the Pope (the successor of St Peter) at her head, leading the Bishops (the successors of the Apostles) who themselves lead the faithful in their local Churches.

Slight correction: There are more cultic leaders than the pope who claim direct hotlines to God. The Prophet and President of the Mormon Cult claims to receive divine revelation. Jehovah's Witnesses claim to get their stuff directly from God through their president. Many of the contemptible
"prosperity gospel" hucksters on TV make claims that they have received information directly from God. Watch out for any persons making such claims. More likely than not, their claims involve getting you to send them your money or otherwise controlling you actions.

Indeed popes DO sin. A notable Catholic historian, Garry Wills, wrote a book entitled "Papal Sins". It is a well documented account of Papal corruption. You should read it.

Well, HOD, the Catholic Church seems to have no big problem with getting cozy with those Muslims who relegate Jesus to the status of a human prophet. Get your Catechism out and go to numbered item 841, which includes the following:
"The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims, who profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us, they adore the one merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."
Muslims do not acknowledge as divine or as Savior. Thus, when they acknowledge "God," they are not acknowledging the God of the Bible, who does have a Son who is Himself God and Savior and who is a creator, according to John 1: 3. The "one merciful God" of Islam is not the God of the Bible.
Contendah, you are standing outside the house looking in the window, unable to see the whole room, let alone the whole house, and unable the hear anything that is said by those living in that house. Yet you judge the house and its inhabitants as if you knew what was really being said/done by them. Of COURSE you misunderstand them. But you really should either learn by walking into that house (the folks who live there would welcome you with loving arms), or just walk away and keep your misunderstandings to yourself. You are doing no one any good the way things stand.
