If you believe in prayer you'd be better off praying for the country and the people living under the obama rule. I'm sure there are plenty of people praying that the country can survive obama and the democrats. Ribbit, there are plenty of solutions offered, the problem is the left doesn't want to hear it, they still claim obama is the second coming.

There ya go JT.

I don't believe in prayer, but I think the gesture can be nice. For those that believe it is the equivalent of sending well wishes. How is that ever a bad thing?

ribbit I too would love to discuss the issues. Instead its just "we hate Obama no matter what he does" or this whole silly "under his rule" as if he is a king or dictator. Its useless to try and have a reasonable discussion on this forum. I have found a few others where you can actually have intelligent debates of the current issues. I would be glad to PM you the addresses if you would like.

Threads "digging up dirt" are kinda useless anyway. It's very clear the left doesn't care what obama has done or still does. He's not held accountable for anything. Why is it always the right that needs to meet the left?  All that means is the right just needs to give in to any and all demands of the left, no matter how harmful to the country. All this crap from the left about the right just being for the rich, all of them are racists, they all hate the childrennnnnnnnnnn, the elderly, the poor, the poor little illegals, oops, "undocumented immigrants", and women, get's very old. As I posted to ribbit, the left doesn't want solutions, they want their way, and that seems like they want the government to support them and everyone else that thinks like them, and if people aren't willing to do that, they want them forced to do it.

Bulldog, that is called separation of church and state. What's so hard to understand about that? One question NONE of the religious folks will answer-which religion do you want in government? Which prayers do you want at graduations and before ball games? Anyone in government can pray. Anyone at a ballgame can pray. You know that. Politicians are sworn in ON THE BIBLE, and in some cases on the koran. So let's say you get your religious symbols in government and your organized prayers in schools, how will you stop the muslims from putting theirs there? Again, who's going to be doing all that praying? Your god hasn't been taken out of anything, it's just the symbols that are not allowed.

The National Prayer Breakfast is a yearly event held in Washington, D.C., on the first Thursday of February each year. The founder of this event was Abraham Vereide.[1] The event—which is actually a series of meetings, luncheons, and dinners—has taken place since 1953 and has been held at least since the 1980s at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue NW.

The breakfast, held in the Hilton's International Ballroom, is attended by some 3,500 guests, including international invitees from over 100 countries. The National Prayer Breakfast is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is organized on their behalf by The Fellowship Foundation, a conservative Christian organization more widely known as "The Family". Initially called the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, the name was changed in 1970 to the National Prayer Breakfast.

It is designed to be a forum for the political, social, and business elite to assemble and build relationships. Since the inception of the National Prayer Breakfast, several U.S. states and cities and other countries have established their own annual prayer breakfast events.

Every U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has participated in the annual event.

One thing I don't understand anyway, why do you have to always be praying and wanting to pray everywhere? You can go to church every time the door is open, you can pray at home, friends homes, bow your heads and pray before meals at restaurants, standing in line, pray in your cars, almost anywhere you are and want to do it you can pray, so what's the problem with not being allowed organized prayer in school, government buildings and ballgames?  Pray before you go, pray to yourself while you're there. Why do you have to be in a group to pray? Why does it have to be aloud? Why do you have to have the entire audience involved? I don't get it.

One of the first act of Congress was to hire a chaplain -- a position which continues to this day.  The Supreme Court will never over rule that as they know the Constitution forbids any branch from interfering with the internal rules of another branch.  It would be an impeachable offense.

The Supreme Court has ruled that Christmas decorations may be on government property, as long as there is a mix of secular and religious and other beliefs aren't discriminated against.  The Supreme Court has several depictions of the Commandments in the art decorating their building.  Good luck telling them to take it down, or chisel it out.
