From the 10th Amendment Center:

Pres. Obama Couldn’t be More Wrong About the Constitution

In yesterday’s Constitution Day proclamation, Pres. Obama showed either his complete ignorance, or utter disdain for the Constitution. Or both. Here’s the key section:

Our Constitution reflects the values we cherish as a people and the ideals we strive for as a society. It secures the privileges we enjoy as citizens, but also demands participation, responsibility, and service to our country and to one another.

Regular readers of this site will quickly be able to see the wildly inaccurate points made there. While I expect little adherence to the Founders’ Constitution, I’m still taken aback by how much anti-constitution rhetoric was crammed into just two short sentences.

1.  The Constitution does not demand participation, responsibility and service. It is almost entirely a set of limitations on federal power. It’s a rulebook for government and not a set of demands on human action.

2.  Obama clearly doesn’t believe that people have rights, just privileges. By definition, those can be taken away, whereas rights cannot.*

3.  What is probably not too surprising, Obama is an elitist, of the most extreme kind. Rights are natural. They are ours by our birth, our very nature as human. Some call them inalienable, or unalienable, or God-given. That means, those rights are not tied to being a citizen, as Obama noted. All human beings have the same natural rights.

*Rights can be interfered with or infringed - in practice – when people allow government to do so. But even in this situation, the rights still exist, should people exercise them in defiance of such government acts.

**************************

The Constitution. Every Issue, Every time. No Exceptions, No Excuses.

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty."---Thomas Jefferson

"That's what governments are for... get in a man's way."---Mal Reynolds Capt. of Serenity, "Firefly-Class" spaceship

Yes, President Obama is well versed in Constitutional Law.  I guess thats why he has such a great record when it comes to the Supreme Court -

Ilya Somin, a constitutional law professor at George Mason University, said it is striking to take into account the number of times the Obama administration has been on the losing end of unanimous decisions.

“When the administration loses significant cases in unanimous decisions and cannot even hold the votes of its own appointees — Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan — it is an indication that they adopted such an extreme position on the scope of federal power that even generally sympathetic judges could not even support it,” said Mr. Somin, adding that presidents from both parties have a tendency to make sweeping claims of federal power. “This is actually something that George W. Bush and Obama have in common.”

That's why it is so embarrassing how little respect Obama has for our civil liberties.

Warrantless wiretaps have quadrupled under his watch. The IRS is being used to attack political foes. The president has declared himself judge, jury, and executioner of American citizens.

I agree , those things should stop immediately, but Obama is not altogether to blame. Bush started the precedent with the consent of Congress, and Obama has not stopped it, but he has not stopped a lot of things that are detrimental to our country that was started under past administrations.

This is ALL on Obama.

He lied during his campaign.

Stop deflecting with the Bush talk and just own it.

"The buck stops here" means nothing to you does it?

You are right, Obama did not "force" Congress to pass a tax or cut a program to pay for the Medicare part B plan Bush instituted, Obama did not let the Bush tax cuts end (something he could have done but didn't ), and Obama did not even ask for an additional tax on anything (I would have preferred gasoline) to pay for Bush's fun lilttle "war" in Iraq that will in all likelyhood add $6T to our debt.
On the other hand, he did TRY to get re-instated some version of the old Glass-Stegall act which kept our banking system on an even keel since 1933 but ended in a Republican bill, signed by Clinton that caused this last depression. However, you gotta give him some slack on this because the bill is still waiting on Boner to get it passed, and Boner, and McConnell and the Congressional Republicans that brought all these financial problems on us , are still trying to take the country to ruin in order to blame it on Obama.
So, yes, he has failed in some attempts, and didn't even try in many others, but still, to Boner's distress, our economy has improved, and our deficit has been cut in half or more.
So, why do you want to blame Obama alone because he has not been able to fix the enormous screwups of the previous administration, or are you just that short sighted.

The program has gone well beyond that of the Bush administration and can be ended by the present occupant at 1600.

The FBI’s use of a controversial Patriot Act provision to demand business records has skyrocketed more than 1,000 percent under President Barack Obama versus his Republican predecessor George W. Bush, according to a report by NBC News.

The so-called business records provision of the Patriot Act, titled Section 215, is the justification used for the NSA’s massive PRISM intercept program that sucks up nearly all domestic communications and stores them for future reference. A single Section 215 order was behind last week’s revelation that Verizon is cooperating with the NSA and handing over millions of phone call records daily.

Bush was bush-league compared to Obama on domestic spying.
