On the news, they said it wasn't for what he had accomplished, but for what he intends to accomplish. I guess that makes the Nobel Peace Prize something of a joke.

I guess the Democrats are not the only ones who like Obamas ideas. Republicans can try as hard as they want to obstruct any accomplishments Obama undertakes, but you'll never change the fact the most of the WORLD believes in his ideas. I think that makes REPUBLICANS the JOKE.
The award was given for intentions, not results. With the left, its always feelings, feeings!

With the history of those who received the award in the past, it gaurantees disasters in any endeavors he pursues. With much of the second and third world arming at a furious rate, we're in for an interesting time.

For Obama, they passed over a Chinese dissident and an Afghan woman's rights advocate.
This is in fact, the world (European socialists), telling us that we should listen to Obama, because they agree with him. This officially makes the Nobel prize nothing more than a political joke. It's over, they will never get their respect back.

Now whether you agree or not really does not matter. YThis is Europe trying to influence American political policy, and doing in front of the world.

Now, lets look at a few things.
Obama pledged to bring the troops home from Iraq asap. They are still there.
He was going to prosecute the war in Afganistan as the Dems said should have been done all along. he is pulling away.
He condemned the greed of Wall Street, and then filled his cabinet with Wall Street bankers.

He was going to restrict the Patriot act, then expanded it.

So, it looks like doing what Bush did is the reason for his award.

"It is difficult if not impossible for any nationalist to conceal his allegiance. The smallest slur upon his own unit, or any implied praise of a rival organization fills him with uneasiness which he can relieve only by making some sharp retort". This was said by George Orwell. You may replace nationalist with liberal if it makes more sense, and it does. It would behoove all of us to read or reread 1984 and Brave New World. We are ALL Americans first and foremost. Mr. O's goals are: Peace in the Middle Ease and Persian Gulf, climate change, nuclear disarmament and a renewed U.S. partnership with the world. At least that's what the telepromter told him to say. One more thing (the Noble Pease Prize) has sold out, once again. Nothing noble or peaceful about this.
There will be result interventor, despite Republican obstructionsism.

Obamas convictions inspired a nation to elect him the Presidency of the United States of America, against all odds. Obamas ideas have inspired hope throughout the world.

You can blow out a candle, but you can't blow out a fire. Once the flames begin to catch the wind will take it higher.

I think it's raining on his fire.

I don't exactly agree all of Obamas policies thus far. However, I'm sure there have been uninticipated obsticals that have stood in the way thus far.

But, I believe that his core principles are honorable.

I don't think this has anything to do with Europeans agreeing with him. I think it has to do with inspiration and a willingness to reach out to other nations to fix problems without having to flex muscle. When Obama announced his nomination for Presidency no one thought he had a chance. The ideas he put forward were bold and unconventional. But as the months went on, he won over a nation. And against all odds, he won over the hearts and minds of Americans. That is ispirational and a great accomplishment in itself.

Unbelievable. The deadline for this prize was 2 weeks after he took office. I can't wait for the Obama worshippers to list ALL the reasons he won this prize.

PS, I will be unblocking everyone for today. I can't wait to read all the responses.

I still haven't seen anyone list what he has done to deserve this award.

PL--If you are defending JIMMY CARTER, then I don't think I am the bafoon!

You poor pathetic mislead fools. If anything, the past 30 years and most recent events have proven that Jimmy Carter was absolutely RIGHT! Yet you are still so blinded by hate you cannot see. I don't blame you guys for being mad. I would be too! Especially after having been totally mislead for the past 30 years. You have been bamboozled into thinking that for us to be the good guys, we have to be bad guys. I honestly feel sorry for you. But then again, I feel sorry for all of us now.

Diddle, it's nice to see your posts again. Can you calmly and intelligently convince me exactly what President Obama has accomplished that is worthy of his receiving the Nobel Peace Prize? Seriously, I have an open mind and would like someone to help me see it.

No. I can't calmly explain why he won it. But I'm more than willing to defend Carter.
