I know in other states there are laws about this and I believe our state also has one.  If you have it documented would you drop an email the State attorney general's website detailing what you observed and the dates and if you have photos as I would love to see people prosecuted, eventually, who take advantage of situations like this.

Stay away from Lewisburg Tn. When wal marts got people with Alabama tags waiting on gas and buying up gas cans the Lewisburg Tn WalMarts raised gas prices by 20 cents while people from Alabama waited in line. They also raised prices on gas cans and generators. In other words, the people who came here from Alabama needing goods and services because of Alabamas devestatios are getting gouged by walmarts 1 local station hasnt raised its price. Now you know why wally world is king!

Even if legal and within the limits it goes to the character of the owner/operator.  Quite a contrast between reports such as the $1500 generator, gas prices jumping as they are and the aftermath of the Japan disasters.  Whether instilled or not, into their psyche, reports were always of courteous and thoughtful people.

America, the South, and Alabama all have their share of similar type people but then there are those who look to kick someone when they are down..

This has nothing to do with supply and demand. IT has everything to do with greed.

I commend the stations in Muscle Shoals that DID NOT follow the 10-20 cent increase that some of the stations on 72 implemented when they had folks lined up from Athens.  Muscle Shoals Walmart and Raceway on Woodward come to mind as GREAT CITIZENS.  They could have easily followed the others to 3.79 but they were at 3.64 this afternoon still!

Those of you that decided to raise your prices 'just because' will be remembered by myself and others for a long time.  You will not get my business any longer, even if you are a penny or two cheaper than where I buy gas.......

absolutely, jimi.  i'm not defending "gougers" at all.  there is some point where a price adjustment to reflect demand morphs into "gouging."  but "greed" is a necessary component of capitalism whether you like it or not.

Y'all are being a little judgemental, it would rarely be an individual store that is raising the price but only the store being notified by their wholesaler that their price is going up and that they have no choice but to raise theirs if they want to stay in business. These stores who people feel are gouging them are likely not marking up the gas more than 2 or 3 cents per gallon.

Exactly.  And if the suppliers are doing it, then the gas stations need to turn them in themselves.  A call to NBC or ABC would usually turn the hounds loose on something like this, especially at a wholesale level.  We watch these stations all go up together for months, not more than a penny or two off.  Then, all of the sudden, the stations closest to Decatur, the ones that just happen to have lines, start going up a dime at a time.  I may not be the smartest cookie but I'm no idiot either.......

Lowe's in Muscle Shoals had a sign up this afternoon that they have them.

The prices I saw at the Lowes stores, and Home Depot, were the regular price, if not a little off regular price.  I think they were around $790.00.

No it isn't.
