From the TD online, June 10, letter from the rector of Trinity Episcopal Church::

"I am writing as rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in response to the article May 31 regarding our involvement in PrideFest.

That article incorrectly stated that Trinity is a sponsor of the upcoming PrideFest series of events. We have an open park, a park that has historically been open to all.

I upheld that policy when I was approached by the PrideFest organizers regarding their use of the park for a family-friendly picnic. I told them they could use the park but not reserve it for their sole use.

Trinity was neither a sponsor nor a host of a PrideFest event. I feel the need to clarify because other PrideFest events included a drag show, as well as a burlesque show.

As a church we believe that all loving, monogamous relationships can be a source of blessing both for the individuals involved as well as for the community in which a couple lives.

Drag and burlesque do not send the kind of message we as a church are prepared to support. When we approached the organizers of PrideFest about our concerns, they withdrew their request to use the park."

Well, Mr. Rector, be advised that those kinds of activities that you find inappropriate for sending the "message" about LGBT "pride" are standard fare across this country in communities where LGBT festivals are conducted.  Activities much raunchier than drag and burlesque are commonplace in these "pride" festivals and "pride" parades.  The "message" is all too often one of licentiousness and corruption.

I yam what I yam and that's all I yam--but it is enough!
