I think if George Bush had his way he would change our government into a "monarchy" and anoint himself as King. The only thing stopping him right now is Congress and the American people.

I've only met and spoken with W twice - once in Baghdad and once in DC. He is about an imperial as my old beagle. Man is soft spoken and makes jokes about himself. Teddy Kennedy is much more imperious -- drunk or sober.

In January 2009, Bush will leave office. If a Democrat takes office, lefties will swoon and sing paens. If a Republican, lefties will villify from the get-go. And, some corporation associated with them. For Bush its been Halliburton and under Reagan it was Bechtel. Same old sheet music, same old tune. The sad thing is how so many people are willing to swallow this administration's "talking points" because they sincerely believe it is the patriotic and right thing to do. When someone says "We will settle for nothing short of complete victory", that stirs up the American pride in people. The problem is, they can't seem to define exactly what victory is. But it sounds good. I guess Hitler must have had some good talking points too, to get all those people to follow him.

Interventor, it was business as usual. It is so common for an incoming President to replace ALL the Political appointees of the previous President it does not raise any eyebrows. The reason there was no outcry over the Clinton action was because it was expected, it was not unusual, and ALL the new US Attorneys were vetted by Congress.
Bush, using a provision of the Patriot Act, not only fired the 8 Attorneys, but he replaced them in a way that avoided Confirmation. AND, the replacements, in the main, could not gain confirmation from Congress because of their PARTISAN RECORDS.
