Hi Admins,

For a long time, I have suffered with a very slow computer -- so, I did not notice changes at your end so much.  However, a few weeks ago, I purchased a very fast computer with all the bells and whistles -- and have become very aware of a problem -- which ain't at my end now.

When I click to edit my own post or to add a comment to another's post -- for the past week or more -- I have time to go get a cup of coffee, take a bathroom break, and then be back in time before your server responds.   Yes, that might be a slight exaggeration -- but, not much.

What is happening in your forum server which is causing such unacceptable delays?

Oh, by the way, thank you for providing these forums for our benefit and to allow us to dialogue with hometown Friends -- no matter where we are in the world.  We really do appreciate what you give us. But, could you possibly make it a wee bit more responsive?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

I'm not having this problem, so it is probably still on your end, hidden somewhere in the setup.

CrustyWife was having problems viewing videos off a particular website, and nothing I did would fix it.  I happened to go in and make some changes to her email program and suddenly the website's videos would run.  How her email setup and the streaming video from this one particular website are related is beyond me.

The point being that Windows is probably at fault and not the TD server.  Good luck with getting it fixed.

Hi Crusty,

It could be, but, I do not have a similar problem with any other web site; only with the TD Forums.   But, you are right that Windows will always have some strange quirks which will pop up.  And, before they get those solved -- Microsoft will come out with the next version of Windows -- with its own problems.

I have seen some crazy things happening because some applications, such as Word, reach end of life.   You and I discussed this a week or so ago, where my friend who is looking for a job in landscaping suddenly found out that his resumes were being created in .docx files on his Office 2007 Word.  He solved that by making sure they all are saved as .doc files.

And, I have solved any inconsistencies by keeping both Office 2000 and Office 2010 on my system.

Disolve, you may be right that it is just a loading time problem; but, it has gotten worse in the last two weeks.

Ah, the fun of computers!  But, what would we do without them -- except have a life?

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Bill, solve your Word and/or Excel problems (or any other problems with Microsoft Office) by going to :

openoffice.org   and installing their programs.  All are free, and for the most part better than  Office.

Their Word program (called Writer) can read anything Word produced in any given version, and will produce it's own type file, but it can be read by Word,or you can use the "save as"  . I will admit tho, that writer is a little slower to open than Word, but hey, it's free and works better.

One thing it will do that Word won't do , is you can convert a word doc to PDF directly if that is an issue for you.

I still keep my Office in the computer, but it is version 1995, and you can have both and use whichever one you want.

Try it, you may like it.
