The congressional Black Caucus has denied white congressmans' admission.
Can you imagine what would have happened if that were the congressional White caucus and a black had been denied membership? Katie bar the door. Is L.A. burning yet?
So much hypocracy, so little time.
Just an old codger irritating other old codgers.

On the subject of racism, not really much to do with this topic, but I just thought about it. I'll go ahead and say I'm a highschool student, that may change whether or not you like what I have to say. This whole racism deal is ignorant. I'm tired of hearing someone say they should be treated a certain way because their ancestors were enslaved or whatever the case was. That may have been their ancestors, but I don't see slaves anymore so I really don't see a reason to treat a certain race better than another because at one point in time their ancestors were slaves. I mean nowadays I have yet to see an actual case of racism. It's used more as an excuse I think. But thats just me I'm sure others feel completely different.

If you are still in high school, then you sound far beyond your years... what you said was the truth!
I have been many places and have many friends from many races, there are good and bad everywhere of every race, I am sorry to say that the worst of the worst have been white uneducated southern individuals that come from the A******* area-specifically C****** Hill. These people are the nastiest of the nasty. They won't work and have been on welfare their whole lives. They will rob you blind. They give all white people a bad name. H#ll, They give all humankind a bad name!
My point is that race has nothing to do with what kind of person you are!

Hi Lurch,

I appreciate your post. I agree with you racism is ignorant, so is reverse racism (the use of slavery and ancestry as excuses to receive what you haven't earned). Both versions of racism exist, they are just harder to see then in the past. Now days it takes a trained eye to see the racism. When I was your age and younger racism was prominent, best said legal. I remember having to order and receive my food in the back of the restaurant. I remember the old "if your skin is black ride in the back" days. I remember when schools first went intergrated in Alabama. The law had intergrated but the mentality of the people was still segregated. I remember the atrocities written on the desk because a person of color had sit in those desk the previous day. I understand some what how you feel when you say you haven't seen any actual cases of racism. It is against the law now and is scrutinized by most all races of people. I would like to leave you with these few points: racism still exist, it just harder see and understand for most of us due to the lack of exposure. If you haven't experienced it, then it's harder to fathom that it is happening. Too, those that have slave ancestry have been schooled about racism and are usually sensitive to racial issues because they have been taught that there were differences between people at one time because of skin color. Should we let it affect us negatively? No, never, there is actually only one race- the human race. The color of a person's skin should not warrant any special treatment, but it should not be a deterrence for what people are willing to merit through hard work.
I know there are some people that are racist, but you don't normally see a white man not letting a black man do something because of skin color much (I haven't at all). I do know white people that don't like black people, black people that don't like white people, mexicans that don't like neither. Theres a line between not likeing a certain race, and actual racism. I mean I'm sure someone doesn't like me because I'm white, as long as it doesn't stop me from doing something everyelse does they can hate me as long as they want.

If they don't like you because your white, then that's a problem they have to deal with. They are the ones needing psychological help. For people to not like each other because of race, you won't see it that much now days because it is not a popular thing to do.

I posted a while back a saying that was so true how race is treated differently in the south. I'm not going to repost it but as southerners, I think we do take a person for what they are. And not the color of skin.
I guess the same could be said for gays. We may hate the sin but still love the person.

Sorry but I am new so I missed that, what do you mean by treated different in the south?
