It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will it be another case like Tom Carper? The women that went after Kavanaugh supported Dem Tom Carper, a wife beater, and Carper is still in office.

Excerpts:

Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam apologized Friday for appearing in a “racist and offensive” photo on his 1984 medical school yearbook page that showed one man dressed in blackface and another in a KKK robe, while giving no indication he plans to resign.

Northam – who has been under fire this week for comments made about a third-trimester abortion bill in his state – admitted to being one of the people in the photo, though it’s not clear which costume he is wearing.

Northam defeated Republican Ed Gillespie in Virginia’s 2017 gubernatorial race. During that contest, Democrats tried to link Gillespie to the torch-bearing white nationalists who infamously marched in Charlottesville. When he won, California Sen. Kamala Harris tweeted congratulations to Northam for "showing that Virginia won’t stand for hatred and bigotry."

Desperation met stupidity on the corner of bad luck and despair, and the democratic party was born.

not a fan of his,,, however it is crazy that people are being publicly criticized for things 20, 30 or more years ago.  How many of us are the same idiot we were 10 years ago, much less 20 plus years ago?   It just shows how reverse hate has taken over

As she said, it will be interesting to see what happens. If he was a Republican he would have been out of office five minutes after the photos hit the news. I especially like these parts- "Democrats tried to link Gillespie to the torch-bearing white nationalists who infamously marched in Charlottesville" and, "Kamala Harris tweeted congratulations to Northam for "showing that Virginia won’t stand for hatred and bigotry."

CNN -- the network that promotes the hashtag #FactsFirst -- mislabeled embattled Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam as a Republican on Friday during a segment about the Democrat's apology for his racist 1984 medical school yearbook photo.

The photo showed two men holding beers -- one dressed in blackface, the other in a KKK robe -- but Northam never made clear which one was him.

The CNN chyron that mistakenly called Northman a Republican aired Friday during "Anderson Cooper 360," the nightly show hosted by Anderson Cooper. The segment focused on a video in which Northam apologized for the nearly 35-year-old photograph.

Last month, Florida's secretary of state resigned after a local newspaper obtained photos of him dressed in blackface as a Hurricane Katrina victim.

Isn't that the response Democrats got in reference to Roy Moore, Trump.... et. al. Republicans?

AP News story ... Democrats calling for heads

I agree however surely you realize that a Republican would never be given the benefit of the doubt and survive if this had happened to them.  Also in this case it's the Democrats that are coming down on one of their own and not Republicans.

Related or non-related it could be said to be just desert or karma happening or whatever you want to term it for a Governor who supported post-birth abortion.  Maybe the best thing all around is for the State of Virginia to abort their Governor from the job, not from life.

Don't worry though I'm sure just as liberal a replacement will be found.

Just a tiny little bit of justice for the millions of baby's that will be slaughtered after they're born! It wasn't good enough for dems to kill them in the womb. How long before the elderly, ill, disabled are deemed nonviable and denied medical aid, food, water, or are just outright euthanized? GBRK, how many "top name" democrats have called for him to resign?

"How long before the elderly, ill, disabled are deemed nonviable and denied medical aid, food, water, or are just outright euthanized?"  EXACTLY!!!!

This is the stuff that Hitler and Stalin would be proud of.  Also there is NO Justice or won't be, for the thousands of murdered infants because if there was no a single Democrat, that signed their name to it or backed it, would be re-elected.  That also goes for Republicans or anyone that would condone such.  There is a debate as to just when life actually begins, in the womb, but there is NO DEBATE whether a Child is viable and living at Birth.  This is out right Murder and anyone that believes otherwise I challenge to present the facts to back up their assumption.

Here is the real injustice or real mystery.  Minorities are by far the greatest number aborted and was Margaret Sanger's targeted group when she started planned parenthood.  The Klan has been far overshadowed in the number of innocent minorities murdered yet Democrats and people like the ones that sponsored and supported this bill will be overwhelmingly re-elected and elected by the same minorities that suffer the greatest murders.  There is such outrage at blacks shot by the police, regardless of the conditions or circumstances yet no outcry by minorities at the huge, overwhelming, numbers of totally innocent, most innocent, minorities.  Is this just willfull ignorance or gross apathy on their part?

Northam is the same age as I am. And I honestly say I'm not the same person I was when I was in college. Digging up stupid acts from 35 years ago doesn't necessarily mean he's a racist. Accept his apology and let's move on and let the Virginia voters decide.

However.....if he was a republican he would have been forced out by now.

It's not up to us to accept his apology, and really why should anyone? IF they want to keep him it is up to them. If they want to get rid of him, same thing. I don't think they are bothered by what he did, only that it can be used against him and them. Most likely they knew before this.

You mean sorta like Trump? Your hypocrisy is showing, again.

Maybe we should rethink the way we look at healthcare in the US.

Everyone does stupid things they were young.  The question is did they gain any wisdom from their youth.  If a person didn't, how fit are they to lead?  Northam was almost ready to moonwalk across the stage as if to say blackface wasn't a problem.  There is a difference between interacting with people you don't agree with ideologically in your daily life, and leading people of diverse backgrounds.

If.... I was a gop supporter, and I wanted to claim the democrats are "the real racists," then I would want Northam and Steve King to resign.

It is the people of Virginia's decision to keep or remove him from office, as it should be.  That, though, didn't prevent a host of people from outside Alabama from reaching into and affecting the Senatorial election here in Alabama.  Any more people from outside every state will be attempting to affect races within each state in hopes to solidify their power in Congress and at the national level.  So while I agree it does belong to the people of Virginia how to handle this the world (of social media) that we live in today makes that virtually impossible to happen.

For me his more egregious action was his approach to post birth abortions or third trimester abortions.  As a physician makes it even more difficult to understand for he, if anyone, should be able to know that viable life occurs way prior to actual birth but surely at birth.

There is so much bias and hypocrisy in the media it's beyond measure.  The media was all willing to roast and condemn or crucify Bret Kavanaugh for just being accused (falsely I believe) of things when much younger and then there was Roy Moore and the work done on him.  Lets also not forget the recent attempts to crucify the kids from the Kentucky Catholic school for absolutely nothing that they did themselves but for just being mostly white and Christian and the real nasty thing they did was to dawn the MAGA hats.
