Rant of a bonified census taker: be counted

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. _ How bored am I? I took a job as a census enumerator.
The money isn't great but the experience is priceless.

Approximately 25 percent of people did not respond to their mailed census questionnaire.
The reasons vary from "didn't get one," moved, forgot, thought it was junk mail, the dog ate it, and downright refusals.

Enumerators are the schmucks who physically check each address that did not return the mail-in form. We drive up and down backstreets and country roads even the Lord has been hesitant to visit for several years.

i filled mine out - to an extent.
i filled out the race and age of each person living in my house.

i skipped names, income, phone numbers, and pretty much anything else it asked except number of people, race and age. i can't think of any reason that the census would need my phone number or what my name is or how much money i make. wether they cna think of a reason or not, i couldn't, so they didn't get it. if one of those poor unfortunate souls show up at my door because the information i provided was inadequate they will learn that they are SoL.

And YOU could be "SoL" if the gummint chooses to penalize you for your silly-assed non-compliance!
