Hey Y'all,

You have got to watch this Ray Stevens YouTube video: "COME TO THE USA!"

If there was any more truth in it -- they would make him a Preacher!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgOHOHKBEqE

This speaks loudly and clearly to our current immigration problems in the U.S.A. I am not anti-immigration; I am anti-illegal immigration, I am anti-any president who declares that he will not uphold American laws, I am anti-any president who will denigrate a state leadership for upholding those Federal laws. Legal immigration is always welcome in America; for this is the history of our country. Illegal immigration pushed in America by a foreign president who does not allow illegal immigration in his own country -- is not acceptable. Mr. Obama! Build up that wall! And, support that wall!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi Renecillo,

Not with our current leadership. But, later this year, and in 2012, we have an opportunity to change that leadership.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

the republican view on immigration, from aspeech by george w bush:

Latinos come to the US to seek the same dreams that have inspired millions of others: they want a better life for their children. Family values do not stop at the Rio Grande. Latinos enrich our country with faith in God, a strong ethic of work, community & responsibility. We can all learn from the strength, solidarity, & values of Latinos. Immigration is not a problem to be solved, it is the sign of a successful nation. New Americans are to be welcomed as neighbors and not to be feared as strangers.

Hi TCF,

No, that was the view of one Republican, George W. Bush -- not the view of the Republican majority nor of the American majority.

So, like your "flat-earth in the Bible" statement, you are totally off-base once again.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Republican position on immigration from the RNC site:

The official position the party holds regarding immigration is supportive when it comes to reforming the immigration system to make it safe and legal, and also addresses the needs of national security. The platform mentions President Bush’s proposal for a new temporary worker program that applies when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs.

The platform states that the President’s temporary guest worker program would allow undocumented immigrants to emerge from anonymity and legally participate in America’s economy. The program would allow undocumented individuals that are currently in the United States to apply for citizenship in the same manner as those who apply from outside the United States.
Hi TCF,

What you have tried to pass off as being from the official Republican Party Platform -- is in reality your weak and erroneous explanation of what is written somewhere. I say somewhere because, like most who try to spin false statements to us, you give no references, links, or any other proof of what is written or where you found it.

Below are statements taken from the 2004 and 2008 Republican Party Platform -- with URL link to so that others can verify what I have written. As you can see -- this differs drastically with the spin you tried to pass off at truth.

REPUBLICAN PARTY ON IMMIGRATION - PARTY PLATFORM - 2004

Only legal immigrants, through tightly controlled borders:

The Republican Party supports reforming the immigration system to ensure that it is legal, safe, orderly and humane. It also supports measures to ensure that the immigration system is structured to address the needs of national security. To better ensure that immigrants enter the United States only through legal means that allow for verification of their identity, reconnaissance cameras, border patrol agents, and unmanned aerial flights have all been increased at the border. In addition, Border Patrol agents now have sweeping new powers to deport illegal aliens without having first to go through the cumbersome process of allowing the illegal alien to have a hearing before an immigration judge. We support these efforts to enforce the law while welcoming immigrants who enter America through legal avenues. Source: 2004 Republican Party Platform, p. 80-81 Sep 1, 2004

Amnesty encourages illegal immigration:

A growing economy requires a growing number of workers, and President Bush has proposed a new temporary worker program that applies when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs. This new program would allow workers who currently hold jobs to come out of the shadows and to participate legally in America’s economy. It would allow men and women who enter the program to apply for citizenship in the same manner as those who apply from outside the United States. There must be strong workplace enforcement with tough penalties against employees and employers who violate immigration laws. We oppose amnesty because it would have the effect of encouraging illegal immigration and would give an unfair advantage to those who have broken our laws. 2008 REPUBLICAN PLATFORM

Enforcing the Rule of Law at the Border and Throughout the Nation

Border security is essential to national security. In an age of terrorism, drug cartels, and criminal gangs, allowing millions of unidentified persons to enter and remain in this country poses grave risks to the sovereignty of the United States and the security of its people. We simply must be able to track who is entering and leaving our country.

Our determination to uphold the rule of law begins with more effective enforcement, giving our agents the tools and resources they need to protect our sovereignty, completing the border fence quickly and securing the borders, and employing complementary strategies to secure our ports of entry. Experience shows that enforcement of existing laws is effective in reducing and reversing illegal immigration. (The point made by the new Arizona law -- enforce existing Federal laws)

Our commitment to the rule of law means smarter enforcement at the workplace, against illegal workers and lawbreaking employers alike, along with those who practice identity theft and traffic in fraudulent documents. As long as jobs are available in the United States, economic incentives to enter illegally will persist. But we must empower employers so they can know with confidence that those they hire are permitted to work. That means that the E-Verify system—which is an internet-based system that verifies the employment authorization and identity of employees—must be reauthorized. A phased-in requirement that employers use the E-Verify system must be enacted.

The rule of law means guaranteeing to law enforcement the tools and coordination to deport criminal aliens without delay – and correcting court decisions that have made deportation so difficult. It means enforcing the law against those who overstay their visas, rather than letting millions flout the generosity that gave them temporary entry. It means imposing maximum penalties on those who smuggle illegal aliens into the U.S., both for their lawbreaking and for their cruel exploitation. It means requiring cooperation among federal, state and local law enforcement (which Obama has announced through one of his department heads, that he will not do) and real consequences, including the denial of federal funds, for self-described sanctuary cities, which stand in open defiance of the federal and state statutes that expressly prohibit such sanctuary policies, and which endanger the lives of U.S. citizens. It does not mean driver's licenses for illegal aliens, nor does it mean that states should be allowed to flout the federal law barring them from giving in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens, nor does it mean that illegal aliens should receive social security benefits, or other public benefits, except as provided by federal law.

We oppose amnesty. The rule of law suffers if government policies encourage or reward illegal activity. The American people's rejection of en masse legalizations is especially appropriate given the federal government's past failures to enforce the law.

This, my Friend, is the Republican Party's Platform position on illegal immigration. Legal, we welcome! Illegal, send them home!

The problem with this new law is not about illegal immigration. The problem is that if you are Latino (or any other race that doesn't appear Caucasian) you must have your proof of citizenship with you at all times. This law gives WAY to much authority to local law enforcement to make the decision on whether or not that person is here legally or not.

Whats next? Do we have to start carrying papers to cross statelines? There is just too much room for abuse in this new law. Those of you that say you want less government in your life should not be backing this kind of law. If you stand by and allow others rights to be trampled on then you have no argument when yours are.

No matter how many laws we create we will not be able to stop the flow of illegals coming across the border from Mexico. Reason? Life is so bad there that they are willing to risk everything to escape it. Also those that are here to commit crimes (drugs and weapons) will not stop they will just get more aggressive. Mark my words we are about to see more LEO's in Arizona being killed during routine traffic stops.

There are solutions to this but more laws that infringe on the rights of our legal citizens are not it.

Hi Jan,

In my post which began this discussion -- I wrote, "If there was any more truth in it -- they would make him a Preacher!"

How many preachers do you find on the Politics Forum?

I rest my case.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,
