I think that the hard times is a good thing. It is not meant to make the family look bad. It is meant to hopefully open some eyes. Some of the people in there are just kids. Maybe having their picture posted in the hard times will make them see that they need help and thats when family need to step in and be there for them, not to feel devastated. I would rather know that my child was in hard times and try to help him than to get a call telling me he's had an accident. If being in the hard times helps keep one DUI driver safe, then it's worth it.

Why don't you just deal with the embarrassment and deal with your son, and see that it doesn't happen again and if it does hope he gets caught and not in the hospital instead.

.....good post A.Y.K.
You said it. Drinking and having a good time can turn into a disater in seconds and destroy so many lives.

The sex offenders have been convicted, and if you look at the dates of conviction tell me why they are out on the streets now?
I know someone who is not right mentally from a car accident.Lost their hearing and cant talk. They sometimes has spells were they kinda go crazy and the parents can't get them to settle down. Had to call for help. Our county cops decide to carry that person to the jail house. Then the picture shows up in the hardtime. If it were me I would have mutiple lawsuits.
Now thats just not right to put someone who is mentally retarted in the HT

I totally agree. If you are found not guilty it's too late because your reputation has already been ruined - especially in a small area like the Shoals...full of all the "Christians."

The fact is, cops aren't always on the up and up and the devices used to measure BAC are in fact machines; they can malfunction.

It's just unfair.

Those of you who are for posting the mug shots of the "accused" better hope you never find yourselves in that situation, if you are innocent of the accusation, fighting to regain your reputations.
don't worry there are plenty of dolts around here who will judge the situation for you

Having a hard time digesting the ethical aspects of this rag....my young son made some bad choices, got thrown in jail and his face ended up on the front cover of this piece of garbage...my entire family, grandparents and all were devastated....did he do something illegal? Yes, he did...but he paid a much higher price than just a fine for walking out of a bar under the influence.....in my opinion, this is very wrong...
