Three weeks after he was fired from Grey's Anatomy for choking Patrick Dempsey and calling T.R. McKnight a "******" (both incidents occurred on set), Isaiah Washington tells Newsweek he was fired not because he was a violent, bigoted douchebag, but because he was black. Here are a few excerpts from the interview:

I apologized and showed my remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone. If a black man can't get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances ... I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand."

"Well, it didn't help me on the set that I was a black man who wasn't a mush-mouth Negro walking around with his head in his hands all the time. I didn't speak like I'd just left the plantation and that can be a problem for people sometime. I had a person in human resources tell me after this thing played out that 'some people' were afraid of me around the studio. I asked her why, because I'm a 6-foot-1, black man with dark skin and who doesn't go around saying 'Yessah, massa sir' and 'No sir, massa' to everyone?"

"My mistake was believing that I would get the support from my network and all of my cast mates across the board. My mistake was believing I could correct a wrong with honesty and sincerity. My mistake was thinking black people get second chances. I was wrong on all fronts."

I'm sorry, I cannot believe that Mr. Washington would actually try to use the "race card" as a means of thinking he should have been "cut some slack" in Hollywood for using homosexual slurs. He actually said his mistake was thinking black people get second chances??? That comment alone was racist in my opinon because I don't feel that any color of people should be treated differently and that would include being given "second chances". I was raised colorblind by my parents as far as race is concerned and one of my dearest friends is a homosexual so I was infuriated when I read this. I don't use slurs of any kind because of my raising and if I did I wouldn't expect to receive special favors if I were one who could be on the receiving end of one who yet used one for another...I hope that made sense but I doubt that it did.

What an idiot! He just can't keep his **** mouth shut. Who would want to hire someone with a violent temper, who sort of likes to verbally abuse his co-workers? Add to that his habit of using the race card when his big mouth gets him into trouble. Local dinner theater could be his next job is he does not learn to keep his mouth shut. For Gods sake - the producer of "Greys" is black.

He reminds me of a classic Archie Bunker malapropism.

"It's like the black calling the kettle pot."

That's a hilarious quote, jagor...his take on things could make for a rather interesting "hate crime" scenario, huh? As I've said before, I'm in a zero way racist, but for him to say that he should have gotten a second chance for being a black man...to me that says that he is saying that black people should be treated differently and that EQUALS RACISM!!!!

Just for meanness the GREY’S writers need to come up with a outrageous story about why Dr. Burke is no longer at Seattle Grace – something disgusting like he went off the deep end and shot up a bunch of people, or – oh, I’ve got it – he runs off with another man . . .

LOL.... good idea..... hmmm lets see,.... he runs off with a white guy, to San Francisco. Buys the 49ers and changes their colors to pink and purple.
I would love to think Grey's could throw RuPaul in there somewhere after he made such a big deal about being a 6'1" black man. Sheis a 6'7" black woman trapped in a man's body. Perhaps this is a case for Dr. House and Dr. Phil? They could throw several networks in there as a collaborative and share the profits...yes I realize there is no such thing but I'm living in my own little fantasy world right now and I'd just love to see him leave the practice of medicine for RuRu..."You'd Better Work!".
Yes, a pretty mouth he does possess...but as the saying goes..."even a smile looks like a frown when you're grabbing your ankles". I kind of like that saying and I'm sure he thinks he can scream that saying to the "tort court" so to speak. At this point, I have to admit that I posted before researching, in any way, how tort reform might, in any way, apply to any lawsuit that he might/probably will file.
