Congratulations. 4 More Years. That's very exciting and inspiring.

Now the Mayor can do what he said and keep his promises---starting with raises to Firemen, Policemen, Sanitation workers, the Street Department, etc.

Taking College Street all the way to Savannah Highway, financial incentives for the West Side, a heated pool on the West Side, a Civic Center, new equipment and lights for the Skateboard Park, a new Senior Center, to name a few.

Services and people are going to get cut. Or taxes are going up. Count on it. There is no other recourse. Or those promises are going down the drain. How is all that going to get paid for?

The spending already has the City strapped, and in these tough times it is really strained. I especially feel for those poor Firemen and the "promise in writing" they got earlier. Them and their Union are laughed at. It's a shame really.

The City must also operate the SportsPlex (if they ever get it opened) and to maintain it is going to be a tremendous cost. They need more people and can't afford to hire them. Muscle Shoals is being consulted for advice on how to run it.

It is going to be a very interesting period. You get what you asked for. 4 more years. Again, Congratulations.

You "won" right?

Small talker either your to young to know about the Good Ole Boy syndrome and the Old money or your related to that syndrome. Good ole boys and old money are AFFRAID of change within the city. When Irons and the rest of his bunch that want to keep this area a retirement community turn down multi million dollar ventures because it will bring god knows how many folks to the area and spend more money while they are here really turns my stomach. You know if Irons and the rest of his bunch down there in office would have said yes to the bass-pro shop the bed N breakfast place on wood ave might have sold to a out of towner instead of being offered on the auction block as well as many other properties in this dam depressed deprived area. Have you ever thought of that.?
oh yeah zippy, i thought of that. I am not to young to know about the good ole boy system, And I am in no way related to Florence money. I was tired of Carrier going to all the college students telling them he was gonna legalize bars when it is not the mayors decision. That my friend falls on the council. Carrier was not the answer and bars are also not the answer. If you only knew you would not be so quick to judge. I agree there needs to be more night life but there is a responsible way to do it, and it will be done. These things take time. Carrier as a council member had more say than he would have as mayor. When my generation starts winning public office these things will change.
