Florence Mayor Bobby Irons was the one whom suggested that taxpayer dollars should subsidize a Bass Pro Shop, AND place it Veteran's Park, thus desecrating the memory of those who gave their life in our nation's service.

It's time to recall that sorry, lying, thieving, conniving, worthless @#*&^@#~!

Shoals Lover: do you now understand why my future plans do not include relocating to Dingy Florence????
Brent, I totally understand your frustrations, and am completely in sympathy with you in that regard.

And, may I also share my respect for you?

I like you. I like how you "stand up" for what you believe, and how you seem to "give a care" about Florence.

We don't (and probably won't) always agree, but I respect you, your demeanor, and how you're not afraid to "mix it up" in the forum. Plus, how you don't "take your toys inside" if you don't like how things're going.

However, I have to respectfully disagree on this one.

Here's why.

Being an agent of change, e.g. bringing about change, involves being at the location and postion of change. It's kinda' like trying to fight a war wherein troops would be absent. (Yes, I know the DoD's remote battle fantasy.)

I recall an incident from my high school years.

I was opposed to a school policy that was not based in law, nor any other good-sense issue. I purposely violated the policy during my senior year, and in so doing, made my opinion known to policy-makers, board members, parents, students and the school administration.

The next year, the policy changed.

If I hadn't been there, what are the chances the policy would've been changed?

None... zero, zilch, nada, bupkis.

So far, the only money trail I can think of is any lease which the city of Florence may annually pay to the TVA.

Again, that's "may." I've not read the land use agreement.

However, the RSA's development did not specifically state using Veteran's Park.

That doomed idea was Bobby Irons' idea... as is Bass Pro.

Bronner can't be wrangled in this ordeal because of Bobby Irons' poor judgement!

It's a deceitful trick to claim so.

This is Bobby Irons' doings.

Bobby Irons ought to be named in a law suit!
