Funny how it says that things like icicles and snowflakes are allowed - those provoke thoughts of a "White Christmas" for me. It is becomming utterly rediculous. Christians need to stand up and demand the same rights allowed to every other religious organization in this country - the right to observe our God as we see fit. So what if it offends someone? There are a lot of things that offend me. But I do have the right to turn my head and walk away.
So... is that city council in the story taking a stand against the pagan religions or against the Christian religion?

  • Christmas Trees have nothing to do with the birth of Christ, and the birth of Christ is what the Christian holiday of Christmas is supposed to be all about. The decoration of the pine tree comes from the worship of the god Attis.
  • Santa Claus isn't Christian (and neither is the Easter Bunny) and neither have a thing to do with the Christian holiday of Christmas and the observance of Christ's birth. Santa Claus as we know him today is a modern product of American commercialism. The Americans derived him from German and Dutch folklore. The man known as Saint Nicholas is Nicholas of Myra. He was bishop of Lycia in Asia Minor and died in 345 or 352 CE.
  • The colors Red and Green have absolutely nothing to do with Christ either. Red and green are the ancient colours of the pagan cults. The berries and leaves seen in Christmas decorations, holly, ivy and mistletoe are green and red. Ivy was sacred to the god Attis and his priests were tattooed with ivy. Mistletoe found on oak was especially sacred to the Druids and Aryans. The idea came from the fact that Mistletoe spread and came into the tree from heaven and never touched the ground.
  • Christ was not born in December, and further there is no Biblical account of anyone every celebrating the birth of Christ at any time. Christ seems to have been born around the Feast of Tabernacles (September/October) in the period from 8 to 5 BCE. The Bible says there were shepherds in the fields keeping watch over their flock at night at the time Christ was born (Luke 2:8). This could not have been possible in December, as there were no sheep in the fields then. It would have been about the ninth month in the lunar calendar and the Bible also says it was a cold and rainy time of the year in that part of the world (Ezra 10:9).

So when City Leaders, School Administrators, and others try to attack Christmas... let them. They aren't attacking anything Christian at all.
  • I think the people should do the white flocked tree with big old (dare I say it?) blue balls and a color wheel in every store window! And put every yard ornament on the earth in the front yards strung in every color except red and green.

Does the house in Rivermont on Pickwick still have the white flocked tree, red balls, color wheel and red velvet wing back chairs positioned in front of their picture window for Christmas?
