According to the TimesDaily website, our infinitely wise legislature has left Lauderdale Co in District 5 and put Colbert in District 4.  Where is our local delegation when we need them?  I was hoping against all hope that the Shoals area would be in District 4 in toto.  Mr. Brooks wouldn't whiz on us if we were on fire, but we'd be big potatoes to Mr. Aderholt.  Now, we're going to mean zilch to anybody in Washington.  Sad, sad, sad.

Unfortuately this is not a suprising result given that our representation in the State Legislature is mostly Democrat and virtually useless to us.  It looks like Lynn Greer tried his best but he can only do so much.  Our local necessity to elect Democrat while the rest of the state turned Republican is going to make the next few years very tough on us.  I agree it is sad but we have no one to blame but ourselves for being out of step with the rest of the state (a theme we seem to do very well).

Look we already know that most of the elected officials in northwest Alabama have no vision, on the city or state level, so don't listen to their crazy hand waving excitement over this.  The Republicans are trying to minimize Democratic voters influence of course by splitting the Democratic vote of the Shoals area.

As I said a few weeks ago, this is not a bad thing to be seperated.  Congressional district line will not divide the Shoals area,  and it will be a good thing for Lauderdale County and Florence to be anc****d to Huntsville in the district, and thus the Shoals as a whole.

Also look at it this way, we will have two congressmen representing the Shoals instead of one.

Once we replace Mo Brooks,  who has his own Mormon loyalties ahead of the interest of the people of his district,  we will have two effective congressman working for the Shoals area.
