I watched this a couple of days ago on Showtime. I have never been so shocked over a documentary as this one. These people seem proud of themselves & their family. Maybe they are onto something. In some states you can make more on welfare than some of us do working, The safety net is pretty darn comfortable.

Do one ever went broke catering to the lowest common denominator. Seems things just get lower and lower.
When we see the magazines next to the checkout, some of us sure do like to window shop all of them and buy the most extreme looking cover.
Considering that there is nothing on TV these days except trash reality shows or crazy conspiracies masquerading as history or science football season cannot get here soon enough.

All Hollywood does is film them, these people are the Southeast. The Honey Boo Boo family runs a close second to the Whites.

kate I read somewhere lately that Jesco White had died. I guess Norma Jean is single.
I think Norma Jean died in 2009, but Jesco is still with us. I'm not the biggest follower of the family, so what was that marriage all about?

This is nothing. I know a white family in Lauderdale county Alabama that is every bit redneck as this bunch is!
I have no doubt there's those kind in & around this area, I just don't understand why there's a need to put them on TV.
People watch it and advertisers buy time. That's all it takes

I don't know how many years andy griffith was on, but it only takes watching it a while in reruns to know they only had a few story lines that they repeated, and the contradictions could give you a headache. Aunt bea was such a good cook that in one episode they gave her a cooking show, but in another she couldn't make a pickle that didn't taste like kerosene. We're to believe she wanted to enter them in a contest at the fair but never tasted them UNTIL after andy had switched them for "store bought" and was praising them. Never saw mayberry, but I doubt there were any new story lines on it, and gomer just took the same old tired story lines to the marines.
I hated to watch the stupidity of Gomer & Goober.
