Rednecks

deep old buddy, i hate to break it to ya. but this place will burn down before it joins the 21st century. you have the majority of the free thinkers in the shoals on this forum with you. sorry friend, sometimes living here ain't pretty!
some of us work hard to turn the term "redneck" into something more. something kin to southern. lol. it only takes one person to ruin that. sorry!

Have you ever read the Shoals Forum? Most of them fit my definition of rednecks. Like walking in to a redneck dive bar right before they headed over to the cross burning. I didn't go back. Backwoods is probably there by now.

I love living in the South but being socially left-leaning makes it somewhat difficult on the occasion. But not enough to leave. In fact I usually find it funny.

personally, i like rednecks. i consider myself to be one, to some degree.

lots of southerners consider themselves rednecks. the word has different meaning for some. i consider it to represent the southern life. beer drinkin, mud ridin, country music, and good times. you know "redneckin"!

I can't say anything negative about rednecks.......I know for a fact the man I married is one.He is a great guy with a unique way of thinking and over the years his way of life has rubbed off on me.I can say this about him he is honest,a great father,showers daily,never complains about my cooking and a pretty good husband in all ways that matter(throw in the fact that he has finally quit dipping and he is darn near perfect). Ah heck...who am I kidding...I might be a redneck,too.

On "Wife Swap" a few weeks ago they had a family who lived in Kentucky (in the mountains, no less). They hunted raccoons (??) One of the kids (about 17 or 18 years old) got offended & said "I'm not a redneck....I'm a mountain man"! (I loved it!)
