that's a problem with the people, not with the theater. the idea of manners and common courtesy, even here in the home of ' good old southen hospitality' is bordering on extinct.
rude obnoxious behavior is ignored because we all have cell phones, and we wouldn't want someone else to tell us when we can use it, so we won't say anything to them.
well, i do not have, nor do i want, nor will i ever have a cell phone. i hate them with a passion. so yeah, movie running, phone rings, i get the manager. i don't know how many people i've gotten thrown out of a movie since cells became so common place, but i wish i had a buck for each oneSmiler
i just wish i had a little EMP gun, so i could zap the idiots who are chatting and driving, or god help us, texting and driving.
you need your phone for your job? fine. pull over and answer.
The Regency 12 is awful...we love both of the ones in Huntsville. This winter, we nearly froze to death several times at ours. Another time the projector messed up and it took forever for them to notice and once, they just plain forgot to start the movie. We had to go find someone and they started it 20 minutes late. With no local competition...what do they care?? Roll Eyes
We sat for a hour once while they got the projector working and there was no apology, no free tickets, no nothing. About half the time I have to go get the manager to fully open the curtains or turn the sound on or fix the projector. As theaters go it's the pits.

And yes people should be beaten with their cell phone.

What are you talking about? DLP is a digital projection and DVD isn't high definition anyways. To be precise, the DLP they use is 2k which is slightly better than a 1080p set you may have at home and what you'll get if you actually had a Blu-Ray player and played a BR disc.
I have never had any problems when I have been. I don't go that often but I have been more in the past three months and we have had an excellent time. The only thing that would make it a little more pleasing is if both concessions were open. The times I have been only one was open and we had to wait in line forever to get popcorn but I understand why they do that so I just wait...

You are correct about the 2K and the DLP, but the 2K is still a scanned image of the original 35 mm film. You still have the "trash" floating around on the screen, which is something I don't have to see on blue ray. The projection version also has the color manipulated to match the film projection to the film original, and after watching the film original in HD on Blue ray, it is hard for me to pay the extra money to see a poorer quality film at the theaters, but this is just my opinion.
