I was a hard-core Tony's club patron! I also went to B's Place, johnny's, The Mowhawk Club, and Sparkey's LaSands. But Tony's was my favorite! It was a different atmosphere than it is with the clubs around here now. I never used my name, always went by Midnight Lady. We always had a good time and never got into any trouble. Ha Ha! Except for when my dad found out that I was going to Tony's--I was 16! I remember the Raintree County Band, Trace, & jackson highway. they were some of the best bands I've heard.
early 70's i was a Johnny's club regular....started going when i was barely 15 and was never carded.
Johnny knew my real age (he was a family friend) and he kept an eye on me and never ratted me out to my parents. I also briefly dated one of the bouncers, so that helped, too.
Willard Posey Reunion...Travis Wammack....Hollis Dixon....
I didn't drink and rarely danced, but had a great time watching the ones that combined the two....lol
I used to work those clubs back in my free spirited days. I knew Johnny Hood and I know Michael Robinson. I girl could hustle a good buck back in those days. I had some attorneys and businessmen out of Florence that visited frequently.

Back in the TN Line days everyone partied together. Rednecks and business people all mingled together. There were no blacks up there, they all went to clubs on the West side of Florence our over in Colbert county. Those were the good days. I wish Florence and Colbert counties were still dry.

Does anyone remember the Kaleidoscope in Savannah?

You couldn't be more wrong there, The rednecks may have partied with the businessmen, but they sure as heck didn't have anything to do with the Hippies.
The rednecks hung out at Bucks, while the Hippies went to Tony's and Thunderbird's.

Hey what about the Dog House and the Black Cat?

Now your talking.lol The first time I went across the LINE with an Older friend we bar hoped from Todd's all the way over to the Dog House and had to wait to get asked to go across to the Black Cat (it was private). Talk about the good old days. My mom thought I was hanging out at Pizza Hut. In those days all it took was $20.00 to go all weekend including gas.
Those were the days in the 70's...
I had more fun shooting pool and boogying down at Johnny's, Black Cat and the Dog House...
4 of us girls would always pick one of those for our Friday or Sat nite getaway...never had to buy beer cause the guys always looked for us to liven up the party.... especially the guys that worked at Reynolds Metals that would come to the Black Cat after a union meeting...

Puckerup...I remember the black couple...loved to watch them dance.

We would stay till closing and then head back to Tourway Restaurant for catfish... Geeze....those were the days !!!
what about club 13? I can remember going in there when it was "private" and it was like a gambling hall, slots and craps, poker, I bet I saw 10 grand on the craps table one time. but went to Jonny's mostly and trying to get around the road blocks on the way back home. "those were the days my friend"

The Tourway folks were friends of my Mom's and my Mom worked at the Shanty...so no matter which one i went to i had to behave.

My uncle, Donnie Davis, was shot and killed by 2 brothers in one of those state line clubs/bars. Not sure which one, and I'm pretty sure whatever building is now gone. Would have been around '79.
If my memory is right it was two Wiley boys, It was at Buck's where the convenience store is now. On the left before you got to the Rustic Park. Anyone remember the Culip Juice at Bee's. "Son your biggest disappointment in life is going to be other people" Big Mutt

Thank you... was it in the early 80's? I always liked him, but I was a little afraid of him. He never bothered me or my friends.
