This could possibly make me jump back on board with the GOP. People fail to realize how little difference there has been between the 2 major parties in recent years. It's why I have embraced the Libertarian party.
In the 21 pages, do the Reps vow to resign if they are unable to fulfill their pledge, ala the Japanese Prime Minister??? Coincidently, he resigned over his failure to uphold a campaign promise to remove the American base from Okinawa.

How many pork-barrel projects were denied funding? How much was overall federal spending reduced? What was actually done to limit the government to the limits of the Constitution?

Of course what they said they really needed was majority in the House, Senate, and Presidency.

And the owner of that business can separately incorporate a second, or third, or more other, similar "small businesses" and get similar tax breaks for each one. So we are not just talking here about Mom and Pop operations. Nothing is said in the "Pledge" about holding the "small businesses" accountable for hiring these new workers that this tax break is supposed to enable them to hire or for making the anticipated "capital investment." Let us hope that if this initiative goes into law, there will be some kind of requirement that those hires are made or those investments are made or else the tax deduction is forfeited. I say...so the @#$%! what?!! Once again this assumes government owns the capital/investment/productivity and has the right to those "greedy" profits and to dictate how much private industry gets to keep...of their own money and investment.

I glanced at it. It won't happen, and if it did it wouldn't help much. They actually call for a return to pre-stimulus and pre-TARP spending levels like that's so wonderful. We were running huge deficits then, just not as huge as we are now.

If the Republicans can't control both Houses and the Executive branch, the best they may do is stop or reduce funding. As to Yukio Hatoyama's resignation, you picked one of the worst examples I could imagine. I assume you got your information from the Guardian, Common Dreams, or similar. They've consistently misreported the situation in a simplistic, two dimensional way. Sigh! I really don't expect better from them.
Despite the reported dissatisfaction of Okinawans with US bases, it isn't quite as reported. Ethnic Okinawans dislike ethnic Japanese much more than they dislike Americans. If the bases leave, Okinawa's unemployment rate will go much higher. Its already much higher than the main islands. The US bases cost the US very little as the Japanese government cover most operation expenses, except for military salaries and tactical vehicle expenses.
Yukio Hatoyama's real problems were he couldn't stop the spending. Their national debt amounts to over 213 percent of their GDP and its still growing. The debt is held by the most rapid aging population in the world. Already, Japanese workers only reach an efficiency rate of 70 percent of US workers.

Ooooohhh, NOW I get it...It's sorta like the Health Care Bill and Nancy Pelosi's remark..."We HAVE to pass this in order to see what's IN it!". (emphasis mine) This cycle I will vote against anyone with a "-D" after their name. We (the U.S.) are on the precipice monetarily and Constitutionally and The Establishment has to have some shock therapy.
The first item on the pledge should be the repeal of Medicare part D, that would save $100billion/year. No one is concerned about the $1.+ Trillion deficits that are forecast, even if spending is returned to 2008 levels. Deficits just dont matter.
Why do liberals hate it when someone has an original idea, puts up their own capital to bring this idea to fruition, and then becomes rich off said idea? This kind of happening is good for everyone.

The only problem I have with the pledge is that it doesn't go nearly deep enough. I do have my doubts that they will follow the pledge if they gain control. The Republican establishment still thinks the TEA party populism will go away if they are elected. That would be a bad mistake for them to think it's business as usual when the election is over.

Wow..could you imagine how many people would be living in cardboard boxes, eating cat food right now if Bush had pushed this through back in 2004. I believe the Pledge is just a down payment. More details to follow. If the tea partiers are successful, John Boehner will be hold an important position, but not be a leader.

It's chock full of catchy over-reaching promises aimed at shrinking government; controlling spending; reducing the deficit; balancing the budget; creating jobs; reforming Congress; strengthening national security; honoring the nuclear family; and restoring trust. But it's woefully short on detail and substance.
And, it's bull****. It's code-language for simply returning America back to the days of the failed Bush administration and its misguided economic and foreign policies. To the days when the GOP, as it does historically, focuses exclusively on making the rich richer while screwing the poor.
In its final "Checks and Balances" section, the Pledge to America calls for an end to the Democrats' one-party control of Washington. This is the same party that, if it wins House and Senate majorities in November, will fight to the death to also win the presidency in 2012 and return America to the days of Republican one-party rule; corrupt, special interest anti-reform days that served as the precursor to the worst economic crisis the nation experienced since the Great Depression.
So to cut through it all and expose it for what it truly is, here's the real GOP Pledge to America:
We the Republican Tea Party pledge:
-To lower taxes for the rich
-To cut spending on all programs that help the poor and middle class
-To end any program that helps you buy a house, a car, pay for college, save for retirement
-To cut Social Security and Medicare
-To repeal all those horrible Health Care Reform benefits such as no pre-existing condition exclusions; no lifetime caps; coverage for kids up to 26; and affordable coverage for everyone
-To eliminate those "unconstitutional" unemployment benefits
-To permanently freeze the minimum wage
-To let corporate special interests and lobbyists set policy
-To cancel aid and tax breaks for small business
-To waste trillions on unnecessary defense spending
-To let Wall Street run wild and reckless with the same sort of high-risk investment schemes that brought about the financial crisis of 2008
-To let corporations influence elections without any transparency whatsoever
-To let right-wing religious extremists run the country
-To ban gay marriage
-To ban abortion
-To mock scientific reasoning
-To eliminate funding for environmental/clean air/climate control initiatives
-To cut funding for sex-education programs
-To deport all illegal aliens
-To "take America back" to the days when blacks, Hispanics and Muslims were discriminated against and deprived of their basic civil rights and liberties
-To fear-monger and further turn Americans against Islam
-To return America to its isolationist days, and reduce America's standing in the world
-To demonize and attack as "hating America" anyone who disagrees with us
-To obstruct government and reject every single initiative of the Obama administration

Actually, they want to privatize Social Security and Medicare. Wow..could you imagine how many people would be living in cardboard boxes, eating cat food right now if Bush had pushed this through back in 2004. Right...they want to take my money and invest it in the market. If I wanted to make some wall street broker a little richer I could invest it myself. HERE is somewhere WE DO NOT NEED GOVERNMENT INVOLVED.
As usual, you posted without proof. Even Bush only wished to privatized two percent of the employee's contribution to social security. No wonder Democrats are experiencing extreme rejection. Much like a healthy body rejecting a virus.
