the theatre restaurant looks like it would have been a cool place back in the day. it says it was in sky park. don't know if the building is still there or not. i like how they list 'chickens' in the ad. lol.

the only restaurants i see listed that we still have is singleton's and george's. is that the only two we have that was around back then?

 

also, i know back in the day huntsville road connected with highway 72. when was florence blvd built and connected with highway 72?

I'm a history geek, and researched this. Florence Blvd opened in late 1954 from what I've gathered. I noticed there being both "Lee Hwy" and "Old Huntsville Rd" addresses listed. Lee Hwy was likely the name of the Blvd beyond the city limits, which at the time ended around the Darby Drive intersection (give or take a half mile). Old Huntsville Rd was basically what we call Huntsville Rd now, as it still would have reconnected with the new highway where it does now.
