Singleton's barbecue is the only one I recognize that is still in business.
Cool stuff! I remember the Big Dip in Muscle Shoals from the 80's. It was right next to that camping/camper store. Had forgotten about it till seeing it listed.
I remember Singleton's, the Big Dip, the Victory cafe (some Sheffield policemen ate lunch there often), Holiday Inn and Flaming Pit.
Is the old Theater Restaurant building now a Chinese place?
the theatre restaurant looks like it would have been a cool place back in the day. it says it was in sky park. don't know if the building is still there or not. i like how they list 'chickens' in the ad. lol.
the only restaurants i see listed that we still have is singleton's and george's. is that the only two we have that was around back then?

I'm a history geek, and researched this. Florence Blvd opened in late 1954 from what I've gathered. I noticed there being both "Lee Hwy" and "Old Huntsville Rd" addresses listed. Lee Hwy was likely the name of the Blvd beyond the city limits, which at the time ended around the Darby Drive intersection (give or take a half mile). Old Huntsville Rd was basically what we call Huntsville Rd now, as it still would have reconnected with the new highway where it does now.
