Congratulations to the majority and condolences to the minority, but democracy works. 814 is a record number of turnout. last mil was only 160 something and 80 something. Congratulations to all for becoming involved in their city elections. you know you might not really have a say in who the president is because of the college, but your local gov't controls more of your world anyway. Please continue to attend BOE meetings and city council meetings. They are important.

You Sound Like a Soar Loser

My property taxes have doubled in the last 6 years. Damm right I am a sore loser. I can't understand why people can't see all this money grubbing for what it is. No fear, the'll want more money next year, and I bet you won't see any difference in the classroom.
Hopefully this is an opportunity for both sides to win. The people who supported the increase can be excited that money is going to be coming in for the schools, and the people who voted no need to oversee that the money is spent the way it has been promised to be used. Many people have raised their voices for changes on various different points. Whether you want to change the way the board is elected or whether the kids have adequate tools for a safe learning environment..you can make changes for your kids in a productive way. Keep your voices heard throughout the year at your school and board meetings, (and if they didn't listen in the past-get louder-they are there for you and your kids!) Stay involved, so that moving forward, accountability and forthright communication are key to all our roles-board, staff, and parents. We are the best way to make progress for our kids!
Thanks to all the 814 people who voted. At least some people in this community decided to act and actually get off their butts and go vote. I'm just glad to see people getting involved instead of just whining.

My father fought in WWII and has always stressed his belief that a lot of people died to give us the freedom to vote and it is a waste of their lives to not take advantage of what we have been given. The freedom of choice! If you don't get out and vote then shut your trap! Be a good American. Be an informed American. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

This is what i was taught. I've never voted for a president that won but i have voted every year except one since i was 18. i have always known that voting is the one american duty i have. people do not realize the importance of your opinion. it matters! not to vote is to make an insult to every man that has died to defend this country. they are learning that in iraq, why have americans ignored this power? i don't know.
