I was surprised to find this in my inbox this morning. Surprised, not because I disagree, but because without knowing of it, I said much the same thing yesterday in a conversation with a terrorized American.

And, his lap dog, the War Hero McCain has taken up the chant.
quote:
Remarkably, in his attempt to embrace the failed Iraqi adventure even more than the President, Sen. John McCain is now parroting the line. "We lose this war and come home, they'll follow us home," he says.

How is this odd terrorist puppy dog behavior supposed to work? The President must believe that terrorists are playing by some odd rules of chivalry. Would this be the "only one slaughter ground at a time" rule of terrorism?

Clarke is totally right here. First IS the big lie that we are attacking Terrorists in their Lair. Iraq is not the lair, Afghanistan is not either. If anything, Florida and Arizona were the nests of the 9/11 predators.

They will not follow us home. It is foolish to believe that the war in Iraq is making us more secure.

Clarke is an expert on terrorism and knows what he is talking about.

Al Qaeda are really only a small group of extremists that are trying to drive western control from the region. The US supports repressive regimes but al Qaeda wants to overthrow these regimes and impose strict Islamic regimes. The majority of the Arab and Muslim people want freedom and do not support al Qaeda's extremism. Even in Iraq they are still only a small part of the resistance.

The US can defeat al Qaeda by supporting freedom and justice in the entire region and withdrawing from Iraq. We need to help the UN help Iraq rebuild itself. Support for extremism with fade as the causes of extremism, poverty, injustice and ignorance are overcome.

Al Qaeda were not in Iraq prior to the invasion but have grown considerably because of the atrocities and devastation the war has caused. The more we kill the more enemies we make.

Well, as is generally the case, I agree with your assessment, but I was hoping for a comment on the Idea of Withdrawing from Iraq.

I just don't think that the If we stop fighting them in Iraq they will attack us again here.

That is a scare tactic. The Bush Bunch is using that single fear more than any other to maintain the public support, what little there is, for staying in Iraq. And it is a fake argument.

Sorry for the late response but my computer at home is down and the last couple of days I have been using the one at work when I get a free minute or two. It forces me to make quick response under pressure but I thought I answered it.

In my opinion al Qaeda will not stop attacking us until we are completely out of the region and the governments that we support and who support the West, like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and such are over thrown and replaced by al Qaeda extremists.

Al Qaeda will attack us whether we are in Iraq or not. Al Qaeda are really a small group that can be defeated by police work. They are not the best and brightest the Arab and Muslim world has to offer.

The problem with Iraq is the war has only strengthened them. Memo's that were intercepted by US intelligence show that they fear a US pullout. That's why bin Laden and others goad us and taunt Bush. The war has only increased hatred of US and west in the Mideast and around the world. We saw the bombings in London being a direct result of the war in Iraq. Had we not had this war and a war on "Islam" in the West the London bombing would not have taken place.

Al Qaeda is growing in Iraq but they are still a small part of the resistance. If we withdraw there numbers will fall and the Iraqi government will have to fight them, and they will. Iran and Syria are also enemies of al Qaeda as was Saddam. The Iraqi resistance will not "follow us to attack America." There will not be a "War of Civilizations" as long as we do not try to control the region. Bush wants to control the region and the oil.

The line that we are "fighting them over there instead of here" is based on racism and trying to really include all Muslim people. Sort of blur the line. It's used as a lie and for the fear factor. We don't need to give up our rights or a police state. We need to end the causes that lead to terrorism.
