For those who want to see just what kind of wingnut Christian Nationist religious extremists endorsed the Perry prayer fest ("The Response") last weekend and what kind of extremist religio-political agenda they are pushing, here is some compelling information.  Samples, with links following below:

"Peter Wagner is the Convening Apostle of a international network of apostles and prophets who believe they are unifying the church to take control over government and society, and bring about the return of Jesus.  The apostles have a 50-state communications and mobilization network of “prayer warriors,” which is becoming increasingly enticing to right-wing politicians.  Remember Sarah Palin’s repeated thanks to her prayer warrriors?  This was not a generic use of the term, as described in a previous Alternet article by Bill Berkowitz in 2010.

Wagner coined the term New Apostolic Reformation, and describes his movement as “the most radical  change in the way of doing church since the Protestant Reformation.”  The movement primarily draws from the Independent Charismatic sector of Christianity, which encompasses almost 400 million people worldwide and is sometimes referred to as neo-Pentecostal or neo-Charismatic. The latter description is used in the World Christian Trends, the gold standard for statistics for the evangelical missions movement.

_______

Wagner is the brains behind the demon and witch-hunting that is part of Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare, or SLSW, that has drawn interest throughout much of the charismatic evangelical world.  With the aid of some of his top apostles including Cindy Jacobs and Ed Silvoso, Wagner developed and promoted the SLSW techniques of spiritual mapping, warfare prayer, and “Reconciliation” events.  The latter are are claimed to remove the “generational curses” from certain population groups such as Native Americans, African Americans, Roman Catholics, and those of non-Christian faiths."

"Wagner has written about Warren’s P.E.A.C.E. plan as being “Phase One” in a God-given mandate for Christians to take “dominion” or control over the earth. Wagner describes Phase one as, “strategic-level spiritual warfare and associated activities have not been placed front and center.”  This takes place in Phase Two and Phase Three, as Wagner defines it, includes the apostolic/prophetic government of the church, dominion theology, the Seven Mountains mandate, and the great wealth transfer.  The latter is the belief taught by the apostles that there will be an imminent transfer of wealth from the ungodly to the godly. The Seven Mountains mandate is the call for charismatic evangelicals to take control over arts, business, education, family, government, media and entertainment and religion."

"On September 28, 2009, at 1:40 p.m., God’s messengers visited Rick Perry.

On this day, the Lord’s messengers arrived in the form of two Texas pastors, Tom Schlueter of Arlington and Bob Long of San Marcos, who called on Perry in the governor’s office inside the state Capitol. Schlueter and Long both oversee small congregations, but they pastors. They consider themselves modern-day apostles and prophets, blessed with the same gifts as Old Testament prophets or New Testament apostles.

The pastors told Perry of God’s grand plan for Texas. A chain of powerful prophecies had proclaimed that Texas was “The Prophet State,” anointed by God to lead the United States into revival and Godly government. And the governor would have a special role.

The day before the meeting, Schlueter had received a prophetic message from Chuck Pierce, an influential prophet from Denton, Texas. God had apparently commanded Schlueter—through Pierce—to 'pray by lifting the hand of the one I show you that is in the place of civil rule.'"

End of quoted materials from links.

The above-described meeting might be the best answer to those who have tried to argue that Perry  foresaw no connections between planning of  "The Response"  and any ambitions he might have had for the Presidency.  From the above, it seems probable that the Governor bought into the claim of his anointing and selection to "lead the United States into revival and Godly government"  and that he entertained this notion way more than a year ago.

It is scary stuff, and it will be reported on at length and in wider venues, should Perry--as is expected--throw his 10-gallon hat in the ring. This information needs plenty of exposure.  Forward to your friends who care about separation of church and state.

Uh, Hoob, did you actually READ the article you posted?  And if so, did you read THIS part of it?

"The tradition of hosting an iftar at the White House was begun by President Bill Clinton, and continued by George W. Bush. This will be Obama's third as president."

The "iftar" is the dinner celebration that has got your panties in a wad.

Check this out also:

"And under President George W. Bush, the White House iftar became an annual ritual. Mr. Bush hosted eight iftar dinners during his eight years in office in an effort to reach out to Muslim Americans and emphasize that America was not at war with Islam."

Hoob, this observance is not something that sprang suddenly from the brow of Obama.  If you don't approve of iftar at the White House, then WHERE WERE YOU and other wingnuts when Bush was doing it EIGHT times?

By the way,  your post, when read literally, as you have clumsily constructed it, says that YOU yourself were "celebrating ramadan with muslims at the Obama White House."  Learn to properly place your modifying clauses and you will avoid such howlers!

Oh yeah Jammaboy, you being the idiot, you can't defend anti-american

moron hussein.

His only goal is what he's been told to do, Take down America.

Too many people won't admit it. Too bad, but it's true.

What has obama done to save america?..........Nothing!!

.

...OR!....now I know this is crazy, but...Obama believes exactly as HE says he believes and is not a Muslim.  Gosh, I know that's way out there, but just think about it.

I disagree with Obama on many things...that would be the beginning and ending of that statement, no need to lie about the man to justify my agreeing or disagreeing with him.

upside, unless I missed something & please correct me if I did, I see info on everyone but the man you are criticizing?

Just the regular left wing bigotry towards mormons.

Listen up, oh pseudo-erudite one!

There was not ONE THING in what I posted above that had anything whatsoever to do with the Mormon Church or anyone in the Mormon Church. The links I posted made no reference whatsoever to Mormons.   Where did you find those Mormons to whom you unwittingly (understandable in your case) showed disrespect by failing to capitalize the of their religion?

Once more you play the deflection game, oh polemically incompetent one.  Since when should each post subsume ALL of the possibly--however distantly--related subjects that could have some relationship to the topic introduced?  Hooberbloob chides me for failing to mention the Ramadan dinner and you deride me for leaving out Reverend Wright. Seems nothing would satisfy you short of a thesis on the totality  of religiously-associated activities involved in the 50 years of the President's life.

I suggest that you and Hooberbloob start behaving like adults.  If you wish to introduce extraneous material, you, no less than any other forum participants, are free to start your own topics. In the meantime, when you find yourselves unable or unwilling to direct your comments to a subject at hand, common sense and responsible standards of informed debate strongly suggest that you leave the discussion to others.

Now, is there anything of relevance that either of you might wish to post on the actual topic of this thread?
