Just finished a job in Iowa and was greatly amused to see marijuana (hemp) growing wild along the roadside. There were thousands of plants, head high, and in large patches. It makes me wonder if it would even be possible to grow good weed around there because of all the pollen from the male plants that would carry on the wind.
I've got 20 million things to do.

That's Iowana, the descendants of hemp grown for rope way back when. There's not enough THC in it to make anyone feel good. All you'll get is a sore throat and a headache. By sixth grade every Iowa kid has tried it. Wink

It takes a chain saw to cut that stuff down if you let it get too big. Iowans would all be rich if it was legal to grow for fiber, oil, wood substitutes, etc. The, uh, "other growers" eradicate any that's nearby to make sure it doesn't pollinate their more precious crop.

The American goldfinch (the Iowa state bird) loves it! I used to collect it for my grandma's canaries.

Nah, not worth the trip, leo, unless you want to build a house or barn out of it. It's one really sturdy weed. Grows as big as a tree in a 3 month growing season.

I should add, the goldfinches like the *seed*. They don't actually smoke it. Wink

That's the part I just don't understand. It's such a good building material with such myriad possibilities. People can "get rich" off of growing hemp (if not rich, at least a very decent living) Come on already!!!!!
True story, in 72 a friend and I decided to go Rappid City SD to help the flood victims. On the way back home we saw a large crop of the evil weed and decided to load back seat with as much as we could hall.now I must say we must have been a site driving down the interstate with the back of that VW filled to the ceiling with pot. Well we soon relize we ain't going to make it home like this so we stop by a friends home in Ok. to dry it out and compress it. Ten days later were back on the road to Florence Al.Well we get home on saturday night about 9 PM and hit the strip. For two hours we cruise and everybody we see gets a big handful of ditchweed. Twernt much buzzz to it but the smiles on everyones face I'll never forget.(my friend ,his dad was the Sherrif of a nearby county.) Hey to be young and dumb agin
