Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice candidate Roy Moore told a talk show host last week that a government that denies God opens the door to Sharia law, according to the website rawstory.com.
Moore, in an interview with talk show host Steve Deace, said that a federal judge who ordered a Ten Commandments monument removed from the state judicial building a decade ago had “violated not only our Constitution but the case law of the United States Supreme Court which says our religious freedom comes from God..."
Moore went on to say on the show, "if it (religious freedom) doesn’t come from God people have to realize we will lose it and that is happening in our country today with Sharia law and the allowance of religious practices for other groups but not Christians.”
Sharia law is the religious law of Islam.
Moore was removed as the state's Chief Justice for refusing to comply with the order to remove that monument.
Moore is running against Harry Lyon, a Shelby County attorney, in the Nov. 6 election.
