MoneyWise has listed the restaurant chains that have closed the most locations in 2019 & 2020. But that list doesn't mean that the restaurants are going out of business all together even though some may.  Mashed is another site that lists restaurant chains that are in trouble.  Many of those listed are not in this area or have a location that is in the Shoals but some that are in the area will certainly close.

I've heard that Logan's Roadhouse in Muscle Shoals will not re-open that location and I'm not sure about the Florence location, at this time.   Legend's downtown has closed permanently.  Krystal Corporation has filed Bankruptcy in January of this year but given their performance at both the Florence and Muscle Shoals locations, if that is typical of all their locations then Bankruptcy won't help.  I don't make it a point of dining at Krystal very often but once in a while I have and my last two experiences were like this.

I was going to order (last year, before the virus) through the drive-thru window and was told, as were others in front and behind me, that there was at least a 30-minute wait before they could catch up to take other orders.  This coming from a restaurant that was empty of patrons.  I called their phone number only to be told the same thing.  The last time I went to the Muscle Shoals location, in October or November I walked in to order to go (due to many in the drive-through) and I was second to order but the wait for 3 Krystals, a Fry and coke was 18 minutes.  There were several in the lobby that had already ordered and were waiting at the tables and two that gave up one of which ask for a refund the other walked out the door saying something that I cannot repeat here.  This was NOT a one-time occurrence either and I have overheard others saying they had the exact same experience.  The reorganization isn't going to cure that problem and I have heard that at least one, if not both, of the Shoals Krystal locations will close.  If one I assume it will be the Florence (older) store.

I hate to say but I'm sure there will be others, chain restaurants, and mom and pop type locally owned, that will most likely not make it for much longer.  It is only going to take time to see what lingering effects there are on their eat-in business once they reopen on Monday at 5 PM (if I heard that right).

Johnny Fleming, owner, did indicate that he was going to repurpose the restaurant and reopen at a future date but no word on when, how soon, or what kind of restaurant it would, or might, be.  You are correct though.

Any guess as to what Johnny Fleming will do with Legend's here? I know he owns a restaurant called The Brass Lantern in Tennessee in addition to the Legend's restaurants, but I believe The Brass Lantern has an almost identical menu. You think he plans on something totally different once the renovation happens?

On the topic of other restaurants I have heard Waffle House isn't doing to well. Neither Florence or Tuscumbia is open right now (Tuscumbia stayed open for longer than Florence but did close a few weeks ago). I hope we don't loose Waffle House.

I also wonder if Walmart will go back to 24 hours eventually or not or if that will be a thing of the past.

I, too, have wondered that very thing, If Walmart will eventually return to 24-hour stores?   I hope they at least restore some of the Shoals stores to 24 hours because I've had times when, after hours, I have benefited from them being open 24 hours.  Whether it's groceries or, in my case, plumbing items, if they were not open it would have been a problem waiting for Lowe's or Home Depot to open.
