Dang it, Blues. Quit playing tricks on me. I thought you said “saliva” herb which means to me Redman Golden Blend.

I’m gonna shut up and spit and then LOL.

Now, that was an attractive vision I had before my first cup of coffee.

That's sweet. I've never been referred to as an "attractive vision."

I had never heard of the drug before today!! Which is unbelievable and shocking! I AM IN NO WAY trying to take up for the drug, but the young man was taking a PRESCRIBED DRUG for acne that has been linked to DEPRESSION...whose to say this SALVIA had anything to do with his suicide...just a thought!!
I see no reason to ban this drug. It's completely safe and harmless and all the article did was try to use scare-tactics with the whole "think of the children" regurgitated argument to try and push it's agenda across. It's ridiculous that the government is trying to tell us what we can and cannot put into our body. Banning salvia has nothing to do with wanting to help anyone or ensure anyone's safety, it's just another attack on our personal freedom and a stripping away of our civil liberties.
This is just another hallucinogen that Repubs aren't going to take kindly to. I know people that tried this stuff years ago and said it's just a cheap thrill... but maybe it's because they preferred harder stuff... who knows??? Anyway, I'm not trying to ruffle feathers, but I think it's silly to go slapping on ban on anything that kids use to f* up their realities. While we're at it, we should outlaw glue, paint, razor blades(for those masochists out there), and the internet(which is where most info comes from for kids today)!
I think this dumb. first off, most kids didn't know about it til the media made it public. second, you can't ban everything that can be misused. folks have smoked all kinds of plants in the past, big deal. and lastly, everyone that committed suicide was breathing oxygen when they did it. are they gonna try to tie oxygen consumption to suicide and regulate it too? (thats in left field, but you get my point) if you have an agenda, you can make your stats appear how you want them to.
Salvia is bad news for most folks... Not that I would encourage, support, or approve of a ban on it, but I'm simply commenting on the 'reality' of doing salvia. It's like a combination of acid and cocaine. It causes hallucinations, that's for sure, but most of the time people get really manic and hyper, too: that's generally NOT a good combination for ANYone - one or the other, maybe, but not both.

On the other hand, if somebody is crazy enough to want to feel like that (and it feels ROUGH), then who am I to stand in the way? As long as they stay off the roads...
During my years of law enforcement, I have seen people die many ways...but one of the most senseless ways was when a 14 year old boy...took a can of PAM SPRAY..and sprayed it into a paper bag...then begin to hale it...He used up about 1/2 the can...and would have probably used all of it...if he had not coated his lungs by then....he suffocated to death in front of our eyes...

Now! that is a substance that will send you soaring into another world...
I have done LOCAL (sold, not grown) salvia before, its alright. my experience was months ago, controlled and a one time thing so far.

the effects only last about 7 minutes.

it IS NOT a party drug, it is something a girl and guy should do TOGETHER, it IS NOT something to do alone (3 people is perfect)

salvia-dilitorium leaves as nature intended are not very potent, you usually WILL NOT get anything off of smoking them. chewing yes.

to get any effects off of it, you must buy a concentrated version, where basically they have taken the active chemical out of a large portion of leaves and sprayed it over small portion of leaves. it requires pretty high-temp heat and something nice to smoke it out off.

this all being said, most people around here don't know how to properly use it so you won't see much more than "that stuff doesn't work anyway" out of people that have tried.

http://www.erowid.org/plants/salvia/salvia.shtml
there is almost all the info you need to know..

IN MY EXPERIENCE:
compared to the drugs i have sworn off for the rest of my life, salvia is pretty harmless.

compared to other harmless drugs like pot, salvia has its place-- but should be age restricted like tobacco (most stores that sell it won't sell it to minors anyway)

if you would like to know anything else about my experience (read: not to talk drugs, to have a real discussion) feel free to send me a email or something!

BTW if you are ever around someone thats experiencing a salvia trip, PLEASE treat them as you would someone that just had a seizure (no bright light, gentle voices or no voices at all)

cliff notes: salvia in my experience is not worthy of legal attention except age-restriction and punishment for driving under its influence, low chance it could harm others.

I guess you have never heard of kids that have died from huffing the gas in cans of whipped cream? Inept cashier? No, they are trained by the company to ask because the families of the kids will end up sueing the company that sold the cans.

I agree...Heck I had never even heard of it until the media blew it up(I'm 26 yrs old)! I think it is terrible what happened to the boy, but as I posted before, there is no evidence that the kid killed himself because of this plant! Am I mistaken, but I believe it also stated the boy was on an acne medication that was linked to DEPRESSION! I am not condoning it, but wouldn't you rather get ahold of something like a plant that comes from the earth than something made up of poisonous chemicals, for example METH.... I wouldn't RECOMMEND any of it, but as you said the media has totally brought this out into the public! Now everyone knows all about it, including curious young adults!!

Whipped cream of all things! A little paranoid don't you think?

WHIPPITS!! Never done it, but have witnessed it! NOT VERY SMART...
I had a friend jump off a balcony as a result of doing this herb. Luckily he survived but he wouldn't have if we were higher up in the building. I haven't ever heard of someone having a good experience with it. But it's been around for ages.

Now, if the media wants to concern the public about something that might harm kids, it's definitely huffing! I've read about many kids using air duster for getting high and then dying. It's just sad and pathetic. And now my canned air smells bad because the manufacturer had to add something to make it taste nasty.
I know what you mean about the air duster. About 6 months ago my wife and I were in Walmart one night shopping for various household items, one of which was air duster. We picked up a 4 pack as we tend to buy in bulk. Anyway, for some reason still to this day unknown to me, they would not sell the air duster to us. My wife and I were both 47 so we weren't teenagers that might be visably associated with huffing. About a week later I stopped by Walmart to get some dog food and they sold me the air duster that day. Weird.

Heck, I recently discovered you can actually put whipped cream onto food and eat it. I thought it was just for romance...

This one will probably get bounced.
My little sister will walk with a limp for the rest of her life because the guy driving the car was huffing air duster. They had all been drinking, but this put most of them in the hospital in critical condition. They were screaming at him to stop & he just laughed. Then, he froze up and rolled the car too many times to count. She's lucky to be alive. Straightened her behind up in a hurry. She was one of the lucky ones...just say no, people. Life is too precious to throw it away. You don't need drugs to have a blast...trust me, I know. Big Grin
I was not familiar with this plant; however, since the article came out, I have heard several garden club types complain of how much they have invested in this as a ground cover. I have always known about nutmeg. Many everyday items have the potential for abuse in the wrong hands.

As far as placing it in the Schedule I category, that simply means it has no medical use.
