Don't think that was the case.

Daniel, I wanted to talk to you about the OT. I'm going to start a thread on it and put it in Miscellaneous. Oh man, you don't think it was me getting way off topic that got it locked? I mean the whole thread was off topic already.

No not at all if getting off topic caused posts to be closed then pretty much all forums I read/participate in would be closed. I am suprised the forum in question hadn't gone to a discussion of evolution... That is usually where they end up.

I love a good discussion as well as anyone but when it turns into a shouting match, name calling, or slinging accusations, it's time for it to be closed.

Do you think it was more so than other posts which have been left open? Just curious.

Hi Daniel, for me personally, yes, it was. David L. accused me of getting satisfaction out of getting everyone riled up and spreading more hate, I don’t know what he meant by “more” hate. e wanted to know why I started the discussion, as though I was trying to cause trouble. I don’t remember ever seeing on this forum anyone ever being questioned as to why a thread was started.
It wasn’t so much the discussion of religion coming into play but that the subject of homosexuality seemed to be rather touchy for some people.
If you run a search you will find that 167 other times the question has been asked of a poster why they started a thread. That does not include deleted threads, many of which I am certain were questioned.

Tac, since it keeps coming up - what were your intentions when you started the thread? Was it to find out how many hypocritical and hateful "Christians" are on the forum? How many people support gays? To bring attention to the horrible way these girls were treated? Of course you don't have to defend your actions to anyone. But since you are obviously upset that you have been misunderstood, perhaps this would be the place to set everyone straight and lay any accusations to rest.

Taciturn, I'm sorry if my wording came across the wrong way. That wasn't my intent!

Thanks for correcting me on that, I either hadn't ever noticed it or had forgotten.

I've already explained once in the original thread when e questioned me so I'll explain it again.
To bring attention to the horrible way these girls were treated?
Yes, I thought it interesting that someone at that school thought they had the right to stop these girls from attending their own prom.
So...I started the poll to see how many would agree if this was right or wrong.
My bad.....I should not have brought the discussion to the forum.

Daivid, I accept your apology but below is the words you wrote in response to e. I think they came across in the way you intended for them to.
I just want to forget it & put it behind me.

Yes, just why did she bring this whole topic up - probably the satisfaction of getting everyone riled up and spreading more hate.
The thread was a Great discussion. It should NOT have been locked. I was actually disappointed about that.

People spent their time, some more than others, explaining and discussing their views on the thread, and that seems like such a waste now that the thread has been locked.

Tac, I do understand you felt slighted, but in this case, I don't agree with you having it locked. As I said above, people spent a Lot of time, and some put a lot of emotional or thought envoking things in the replies that they left. It was a good thread, despite you being questioned, and should have remained.

You shouldn't be so defensive, especially saying, "My Bad.... I should not have brought the discussion to the forum." The thread was interesting, and wasn't bad in my or many others' eyes.

*sigh* I wish it could get unlocked- it did add a great discussion here. Despite it going off topic sometimes.

Manda, I understand what you're saying. What you or the rest don't know (except the ones that know who they are) is about the PM's I received calling me a "gay hater" (that was the kindest name I was called) & telling me to get off the forum.
I think you would be defensive too if you got the kind of hate PM's I got.
I didn't need that in my life right now. Just because I had mine locked, doesn't mean that any of you can't start another.
No I don't know what kind of Pm's you got, and that isn't fair for you to get them either. Whomever sent them to you, should be really ashamed. Anyone that would judge you without KNOWING or asking you if that's what your opinion was- well, then they are no better than what they were assuming you to be. Ya know? Take that crud with a grain of salt. Smiler

The good on that thread outweighed the bad though, that's what makes it disappointing to me. I've seen this subject debated, discussed and argued many times on the site I help with, all of which WERE NOT as civil as the debate/discussion on here. That to me, means the thread was a great discussion and was doing good.

I'm not trying to be offensive to you, but if that were me in your shoes, I would have ignored the Pm's, and just left the thread standing. If need be, I would try to forget it was even there. When people take the time to respond in the nature they did on that thread, to me, that should have been taken into consideration. I don't know if it was, but reading back through it, it doesn't seem that it was. It seems like you immediately reported it after you were slighted, and didn't think of the people, and the time they spent replying to you.

You know I love ya, so I hope you understand where I am coming from. Smiler I just strongly disagree with the way that was handled. Smiler

Did you get my PM?
