Saving money in a down economy

i was already really cheap so i didn't have much to cut back on!

i am eating out less and at less expensive places! but, trying to cook for one is kinda expensive anyway!

I have almost entirely stopped eating out, with the exception of a weekly stop for carry out from the Garden Gate Cafe, because they give me enough food for two meals for five bucks, LOL.

I wash my own car. My boyfriend and I have started taking care of my lawn (I was spending $40 each time it was mowed by a crew). I color my own hair. I get fewer haircuts (which is no problem with the warmer weather ... ponytail!).

I eliminated my clothing expenditures because, frankly, I have too many clothes and shoes as it is. But I really do miss the clothes shopping.

I thought of another. I got my tires aligned and air filter changed yesterday...spent money on the front end but hopefully will save gas in the long run.

Things I've done:

Cut cable off and watch tv via internet

Get movies from Redbox or watch online

Take lunch rather than buy it daily

No sodas or snacks. Well maybe a Mr Good Bar every now and then

Store brand peas taste the same a Green Giant to me.

Wash the cars myself

Iron uniforms/suits/shirts instead of sending to cleaners

I have been prostituing myself to my husband for years. I have been thinking lately of branching out with my business. Waiting on a decision from my husband. Doubtful he'll say yes. So, I will probably start clipping more coupons - unless he gets a raise - at which time my prices will increase (significantly) to him!

We got rid of our personal land line, still have one for the business.

We cut our cell phone plans back.

We got rid of cable (don't watch much TV anyway), but still have it because it feeds the old way or something like that. That's according to the man that came out to disconnect the service. If I'd known they'd give us cable for free, we'd have had it cut off a long time ago. HA!

Instead of running out whenever we need something, we save up errands to do them all in one outing.

We're more careful about spending money period than we were before and we were already tightwads...groceries, clothes, everything requires consideration now and getting the best deal possible.

cable for free.

We haven't had to cut back on anything
yet & lucky in that we are still able
to put money back each month.
