Some Seattle school children are being told to be skeptical of private property rights. This lesson is being taught by banning Legos.

A ban was initiated at the Hilltop Children's Center in Seattle. According to an article in the winter 2006-07 issue of "Rethinking Schools" magazine, the teachers at the private school wanted their students to learn that private property ownership is evil.

This idea has been going on in some schools for several years. When the kids buy their school supplies at the start of the year, they are asked (made) to put all of their supplies into some type of "community" chest for all to use. When I was little I didn't mind sharing my box of kleenexes with the class, but my crayons were my crayons. I also went to a private school so I have no first hand experience of government schooling other than UNA being a public university.

I attended public school all they way through high school and we never made or asked to share supplies. This teaches kids not to strive hard because someone will always be there to give you what you need.

Yes, the Christian right wings really need to talk to God about raising Jesus to share. Didn't Jesus share fish and loafs?

Maybe the state of Alabama should teach this since Socialist girl Helen Keller is on the state currency. It could be the theme of the Helen Keller festival.

We have state currency?

BTW, the Bible does support private property rights by prohibiting stealing.

Excusme! I meant state quarter issued by the US Mint.
This is an example of the main principle that the Right and the Left share.

They both want the state to have control. The Left, through Socialism and Communism, and the Right through Corporatism and Fascism.

The same result: You can't take care of yourself, you need the state or government to provide food, shelter, protection, guidance, etc.

Believe in yourself. Individual rights are paramount.

Liberty for all.

Here's an alarming thought for you, Miamizsun. I think Jesus would agree with you. Wink

By that I mean, I think God would at most want us to help people help themselves, not reduce them to lifetime dependents. Biblical instruction definitely encourages having a strong work ethic.

Please excuse me, My lovely wife just informed me that when we send supplies to school that we are instructed not to label there names on the supplies.

My children attend Brooks Elementary and I will be more vocal about this issue.

How many of you that have kids in the Lauderdale county school system know of this?

Why do we pay taxes? Why do we allow illegal aliens to get educated at our expense?

How many BUSINESSES like CARBINE Construction and Dale Dobb's construction's employees must we pay for?

I'd label it and dare some administrator to call me on it. ;-)

Strange that all this heat is being generated over a lesson in a PRIVATE SCHOOL.

A private school in Seattle is more liberal than a public school in Alabama. Not all private schools are run by conservatives.

The school itself if PRIVATE PROPERTY. They may be liberal, but they are NUTS.
