The Freedom Alliance has collected over $48 million since 2003 but just under 1.8 million was actually used for the intended purpose. that's .036 cents on the dollar. This is per their IRS 990 filing. Most of the money goes to expenses.

Keep in mind, some people dogged out The Red Cross for having high administrative costs, but it still only is around 6% of what they collect a year, and 4% is used for promotion.

You may not agree with Debbie Schlussel's journalism, but Freedom Alliance's response still does not account for all of the filing's information. Definitely needs more research.

From a quick read of the tax statement, it appears the fund's main income producing assets are US Treasuries providing about 4 percent income. The fund denied the accusations at:
