Senate cancels vote on doomed auto bailout.

WASHINGTON – The Senate's top Democrat has called off a planned vote this week on a $25 billion auto industry bailout. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that he wanted to figure out some way to help Detroit's struggling Big Three but that efforts to do so had stalled.

The White House and congressional Republicans rejected Democrats' plan to dip into the $700 billion Wall Street rescue fund to finance loans to U.S. automakers.

A bipartisan group from auto industry states is working to cut a deal on a scaled-down aid package. If agreement can be reached, Reid said the Senate could still vote on it as part of a measure to extend jobless benefits.

Not surpising, well actually it is very surpising considering we're talking about congress. After what I heard today and yesterday the Big 3 really didn't have their act together - at least the CEOs. Ford seemed to be the best equipped to handle the questions.

YEAH!!! For now anyway.

De Nile is a river in Egypt, not a state in which to live in.

ONLY 1449 DAYS LEFT UNTIL THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
I love the analogy I think Rep Black made of "you don't fly in a private jet to get out with your tin can in hand"...that image just cracked me up...I agree with a lady on the radio this morning. These CEO's said they were going to forego their "bonus" this year -- I'm sorry what did you do to deserve a bonus? YOur company is in the red and you need a bailout to survive -- what makes you think there is a bonus coming at all? And what on earth would someone who makes $56million dollars a year need a bonus for anyway. Now they are getting to feel how the rest of the "real world" feels -- scared and helpless about our current economic situation. They want $25 billion -- well if they all "forego" their annual salary for a year that would be a start in the right direction. Then put at least one or two of the private jets on "ebay" and get rid of that dead weight. Then cut the spending of the company on parties and office supplies and heat/air in the office buildings. Then go to a "casual workplace" so you won't have to pay your "executives" to "look professional" when they clearly are not--this would warrant no raises for any member of management for a couple of years at least -- you know, no "cost of living" raise like most of us don't get anymore because our companies are struggling under the tax burden to keep idiots like this flying high.
