I'm probablt going to get in trouble for this but..try out this site www.premiereadult.com.

I lived in Fl. for 18 years and am not ashamed to tell you I visited this store more than once. I have not yet been able to check out One Luv but I'm willing to bet it is a lot more tame than my favorite store in Orlando.

What people do in the privacy of their own homes is noone else's business. If you don't like to "experiment", then stay out of the store!!

Children are not allowed in there and when I drove by there I saw nothing about the building itself that "mars" the town. It is not even on the main street, get over yourselves.
rA few years ago there was a shop on Woodward called (i think) "Classy Lady"..... they sold sexy/vey naughty lingerie for women, and various lotions/potions and "toys" for both men and women. I don't recall there ever being a fuss about them. They stayed in business for several years.....but then their windows were not blacked out. Maybe that's why there's some fuss about this new place? the blacked out windows make some automatically think what lies within must be bad?

I bought a couple of things from Classy Lady... I think the person who started all this is just a very unhappy individual, unless your theory about her owning the place is correct, but then she could still be unhappy.... unhappy about not getting enough business that she has to come here to do some advertising.
Well congradulations to all the prudes in Florence, you managed to get the adult dvd's,sexy lingerie, and adult toys out of One Luv.My husband and I went in there yesterday to check it out only to discover about the only thing they carry now is water pipes. Anybody with a brain knows what those are used for, so I guess its okay to sell drug paraphenilia but not lingerie. I can get high but I can't wear something sexy. Mad I talked with the lady running the shop and encouraged her to talk to her boss about relocating to Sheffield.

I am sick and tired of prudes and the law deciding what I can and cannot buy.

I am too. I'm so tired of the faux rectitude of the species Homo hypocritus and the dead hand of the Churches on this area. We are a backwater: it's the result of poor governance, an unwillingness to change, and many of our best and brightest going where they are appreciated.

LOL

Aw, but they so love to blame the churches. Just don't tell them that Christians are all for enjoying sex. That would probably be just too much for them to bear. Wink

Jon, do you think there are no non-Christians who are against the things you listed? They judge others every bit as much as a Christian does, by their own set of standards.

Everyone, regardless of religion or lack there-of, has a right to voice their opinion. JMHO Smiler

Well, that was not the case in this instance, but people sure were quick to JUDGE that it was. Wink That was my point. Everyone judges others by their own personal set of standards and ideas, whether they want to admit it or not.

Even though I try my best to not judge others, I would be lying if I said it has never happened. Thankfully, I have the benefit of feeling conviction, which at least gives me the chance to try to make things right.

If I make the decision that something is wrong for the area in which I live or right for the area in which I live, but do nothing about it (vote, voice my opinion, start a petition, distribute flyers, speak to whoever is in charge of whatever I'm concerned about, etc.), not only does that make no logical sense, it would be wrong.

We should say/do nothing for fear of offending somebody? Not going to happen. I have just as much right to be an active citizen and it would be wrong to say/do nothing.

Personally, as long as it's legal, I don't care what they sell in this shop. They had the good sense to black the windows & post an over-18 sign. I really don't get the problem.
If people know it is a sex shop dont go in.I wish Florence would let more places open like, Nude bars would be good and attract a lot of tourist. They pay taxes like any other business.I hate to hear people cry over a business they don't like, just stay out, they are not out in the street they are inside. We want a retirement town here, well naked women draw in some old men and women.

Is a Christian supposed to judge?

Sorry, I told you wrong on this...ironically, we covered these verses in church today...read 1 Cor 5, especially verse 12. We are not to judge unbelievers, but Christians actually are supposed to judge each other & hold each other accountable - not to be holier than thou - but as one "grieving" (as it says in verse 2) for another & with repentance & reconciliation as the eventual goal. That's what I get for speaking before searching for the answer. Sorry about that. Smiler

This has nothing to do with the Justices personal religious beliefs right?

"Public morality can still serve as a legitimate rational basis for regulating commercial activity, which is not a private activity," Bolin wrote for the court majority."

What are their personal religious beliefs?

As I said before, everyone judges others by their own personal set of standards and ideas, whether they want to admit it or not. Christians do not have the market cornered on that.

Just to reiterate, lest someone gets the wrong idea...lol...

Huh? I was replying to what you said. If you don't want an answer, don't ask. Were you not asking if the Justices' decision was affected by their religious beliefs? If not, what did you mean when you quoted Sue and Tru, then asked "This has nothing to do with the Justices personal religious beliefs right?" I'd need to know their beliefs to answer that question.

Picking and choosing? I can't imagine where that one came from. I won't ignore what it says because you don't like what it says. Wink

Did you read it in context or are you going to take one verse to "prove" your point.

Adolf Hitler took pieces of the Word to justify his actions. "Christians" took pieces and parts of the Word to justify the Crusades. Just because Crusades sounds like it was for a good cause, it was still a Holocaust.

Ever wonder why the Bible is called "the Word" of God instead of words of God? It is because one should take the entirety of the Word as a whole. Not specific words out of context to justify actions.

I read it in context.

Since you do not know what gave this man his definition of immoral, why would you think that I do?

Did he actually say that sex toys are immoral or is he of the opinion that the general public agrees that they are? Is he human and therefore capable of making an error?

Do you have complete faith in this man's opinion, enough so that anyone who does not agree with him must be wrong?
He is upholding a state ban. How is that illegal?

I just read the rest of the Bolin's quote from the article Sue posted. http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2010/03/post_499.html Yes, I really am that bored...lol. It sounds like there is concern about advertisement were it legal to sell?

Also, I doubt all stores would blacken their windows and post an over-18 sign. I do agree that I don't want to be walking through a shopping area with my grandson and see a window full of sex toys. That would be rather inappropriate.

Of course, they could allow businesses to sell it with the stipulation that they black the windows, post the sign, enforce the sign and don't put advertisement in plain view. Maybe they didn't think it warranted that much thought since you can buy the stuff online anyway?

Pleasures in Huntsville is great. I know they have ways around the ruling. As you walk in the door you are carded. All toys have stickers that read something like, consult your dr. prior to using a deep tissue massager. They also make you sign a questionair about usage before you are rang up. To each is his own...........
We know no spectacle so ridiculous as the British public in one of its periodical fits of morality.
-- Thomas B. Macaulay

The Florence public when in high moral dudgeon about something or another is in good running, though. Hypocrisy or hypermorality gives them a warm feeling, like wetting their pants while wearing dark clothing.
