Angle Campaign Used Decoy To Duck Press: Nevada Reporters Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle used a decoy to dodge members of the press at an event on Monday, a reporter on the scene tells the Huffington Post.

The Tea Party-backed pol, who has avoided public appearances since offering racially insensitive remarks to a group of Hispanic students, left reporters waiting at an event at a Microsoft Licensing office for nearly two hours (between the time she showed up late until they realized that she had actually left). Getting out of the building without being noticed, however, was tricky. According to Mackenzie Warren, a morning reporter for Reno's NBC-affiliate, KRNV, a staffer for Angle's campaign suckered the press by making it appear that she would be leaving the front entrance (the one she initially entered) while she was, instead, exiting through a side door.

We were standing on the sidewalk and there were one of three buildings, so we called to make sure we were at the right building. Sharron Angle was supposed to show up at 10:30 a.m. to do the work place visit and it wasn't until a few minutes past 11 a.m. that she finally did. I was staking out another entrance when she did arrive but all everyone got was a 15-second view of her being walked in. People were asking: 'Are you going to talk to us?' But she just walked straight in.

I came around to the front and we waited for nearly two hours. And the security guard was being very strict, not letting us step foot in the parking lot. Then a different car came up, not the one she arrived in, an SUV. it pulled into the front and her entourage was there, maybe 10 of people, a lot of people from her camp. And one of the guys from her camp got on her cell phone and very audibly said, 'Hello, O.K., Is she ready? Is she coming down now? O.K. we are out here.'

So then, of course everyone starts rolling. And then shortly thereafter, two women come out and get in the car. It threw us for a quick second and neither of them were Sharron Angle.

A little later, I went over to the side entrance again to stake that out. We waited for a little while longer. At that point I convinced the security guard that I had to go to the bathroom and he let me in. I ran into the lady in the bathroom, asked her about the speech and asked her if she was still here. She said no, she left. 'Out the front door?' I asked. And she said no.

Jarrod Agen, a spokesman for the Angle campaign, told the Huffington Post that it was a matter of tight scheduling that forced her to quickly leave the event.

"It was a private meeting with Microsoft, which we were running late for, then we had to hit the road for a meet and greet in Lake Tahoe, which we were also late for," said Agen.

Warren's account was confirmed by local press write-ups as well as another Nevada reporter who, while not on the scene, had a colleague who was.

Whether the campaign deliberately misled the press to believe that Angle would be leaving the Microsoft building from the entrance they were covering will undoubtedly be disputed in the days ahead. Warren, however, noted that the staffer who spoke into the cell phone did so at a volume level that seemed deliberately loud. "One of the very few things audible was that phone call," she said.

Perhaps more importantly is the continued perception that the Nevada Republican is ducking questions, running out the clock on the election in hopes that the tough coverage she risks doesn't carry over into worsening impressions among voters.

"It is frustrating," admitted Warren. "As a reporter, as someone whose job it is to get the answers to the public it is so difficult."

Well that is following the tea party play book, don't give anyone a chance to ask you a question and you can't show how stupid you really are.

The supposed racist remark was that she had a hard time telling some Hispanics from some Asians. That's not racist, that's a personal observation. Spending a great deal of time in the Orient, I can tell the major groups -- Viet Namese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and a few others apart. If I mentioned that, I'd be called a racist by some ignorant repressive.

For the record, Angle has a Hispanic daughter-in-law.
I don't know why Sam Stein put that first sentence in this piece but as usual the mind of Fox News is working here. THE POINT is that ALL tea party candidates won't answer questions, well with the exception of season of the Witch O'Donnell and Angle resorted to tricks to avoid reporters. I wonder if there will ever be a Fox deprogramming group?

Explain the "First Asian legislator" part please.
Angle is obeying the commands of the RNC, which is to avoid any media lest she embarrass herself and the RNC, or forgo campaign funding.

This close to an election, why would any competent candidate snub the media???

When Joe Miller was faced with a journalist that was going to ask tough questions, he had said journalist removed by his own private militia security.

Democrats Skip Town Halls to Avoid Voter Rage

If the time-honored tradition of the political meeting is not quite dead, it seems to be teetering closer to extinction. Of the 255 Democrats who make up the majority in the House, only a handful held town-hall-style forums as legislators spent last week at home in their districts.

It was no scheduling accident.

With images of overheated, finger-waving crowds still seared into their minds from the discontent of last August, many Democrats heeded the advice of party leaders and tried to avoid unscripted question-and-answer sessions. The recommendations were clear: hold events in controlled settings — a bank or credit union, for example — or tour local businesses or participate in community service projects.

And to reach thousands of constituents at a time, without the worry of being snared in an angry confrontation with voters, more lawmakers are also taking part in a fast-growing trend: the telephone town meeting, where chances are remote that a testy exchange will wind up on YouTube.

So: Reps are just as spineless as Dems.
Angry voters are the same as journalists
I would say that since the dems are acting 'on mass', they are much more spineless than the reps. With the party heads telling them to AVOID unscripted questions, that makes their case much weaker than a few reps leaving by a side door.

Neither party has any thing to be proud of. The cliff we are going off has rep and dem at the wheel.

BMforbrains: She saw the press walking in and they tried to interview her there. And you actually have the GALL to talk about scripted questions after the debacle that were George Bush town halls? You are one sick, twisted hypocritical teabagger!

Explain the "First Asian legislator" part please.

Sigh! I'll explain it by the numbers.

1. Mrs. Angle has 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
2. Mrs. Angle has a hard time telling a Hispanic from an Asian.
3. One of her daughter-in-laws is Hispanic.
4. One or more of her grandchildren is half Hispanic.
5. Family joke about her being the First Asian legislator from Nevada.

Congratulations, Juan!

Is that sarcasm or did you make a statement dumber than Rocky.

As it stated, "The supposed racist remark was that she had a hard time telling some Hispanics from some Asians. That's not racist, that's a personal observation."

greenhill mom stated, "My DD, who is from China, sees Hispanics and Native Americans and thinks some are also from China."

As I stated, Mrs. Angle has a Hispanic daughter-in-law and half Hispanic grandchildren.

Now, does an inability to differentiate make one racist? If so, then there is a Chinese racist in the area.

Do you really believe Mrs. Angle hates her grandchildren!

Like I said, a statement dumber than Rocky's. Truly an achievement!

Typical right wing radical teabag hypocrisy at play!! For one, click on b50m actual link and read the COMPLETE first part of the article which she omitted(Fox trained her well), it was comparing the meetings of this summer with those of last years summer break when tea party supporters had been "advised" about how to disrupt town hall meetings and were spotted carrying weapons, the qoute about the so called scripted questions represented ways to avoid dealing with near riots. Even at the time, how many town hall meetings did democrats hold knowing they would be disrupted by screaming teabaggers? Want to see them in action? Once again, thousand of You Tube videos and AT LEAST the democratic candidates did and will TAKE questions and not hire security gaurds to avoid them or run away to avoid them or only appear on Fox News to get THEIR prescripted questions.

The SEIU is quite left wing and as shown before severely beat a black man at a townhall rally. The congressman later admitted he wasn't spit upon. It was a case of say it, don't spray it. What uniformed crazies do you mean! The police? As the only gun toting tea partier was a black man, I suspect rocky is a latent racist, if not a bigot.

I see that your grammar/spelling breaks down when you become overly excited -- a sign of mental imbalance.
