Sheffield's "Good Ole Boy system" is still alive and well.
“McLeary said she was approached by Mayor Ian Sanford about serving on the council“.
If McLeary had declined, Sanford said the council would have solicited applications and interviewed prospective candidates from the district.
What happened to giving it to the runner up in the election like several years ago when it was given to Mr. McLeary when Mr. Morrow resigned early. Mr. McLeary was offered and took the position because he was the runner up in the election. Was Mr. Wiggins the runner up in the last election approached and offered the position? If not, why? Was it because he was not a friend and neighbor of Mr. Sanford? Was it because his campaign was run on the premise of shaking up Sheffield and working hard to make changes for the better. This might involve to much extra work for the current Mayor. Travel the road that creates the least amount of trouble, work, and accountability.
