What's the talk on the mayors race? Anderson, Price, or Sanford?[/QUOTE]

Alot of the people that I've spoken with are voting for Steve Price. He's really out there talking to people... just going door to door. Lots are really impressed with his ideas. His personality would make him a perfect fit for the job.

I like the fact that Steve Price is focusing on downtown. I think he will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the job if elected.

In today's TD political supplement, Ian Sanford mentioned more development on Hatch Blvd. I assume he means trying to get the land on the east side of Hatch from TVA for more strip development. I think Ian is a fine fellow, but why do we need to cut down more trees for more strip development? The Holiday Inn just lost its franchise and the Fogcutter building next door has had more faiied businesses than I can recall.
Lighthouse,

Why didn't you make up an answer for Harley-Davidson? You were on a roll. You put up more posts today than that JJPAUL fellow - put him to shame!

Yes, private investors were involved getting Mitch started, but he didn't own the building and got no help from the owners when he needed it, big time Ian fans - he could have helped, but chose not to.

Lewis got sick of dealing with the flooding
issues and no help from the city.

David M. wanted to expand and stay in Sheffield; plenty of space around him, but why should Ian get involved - well, the city probably could have used the tax base.

We could argue forever.

P.S. Here's a fact: the Holiday Inn got its franchise back today.

I say put a Hooters next door, then dads can have their nightlife while the kids' get theirs down the street at Chucky's. Momma can drive home. It is only a couple of weeks until football season. (JK moms)

I don't know what happened to Harley-Davidson! I have never known Sheffield people who ever tell a certain downtown street owner what to do. Mayors before in the 60's tried and they refused to fix buildings then most businesses moved. Who will ever stand up to them? Buildings are falling down and no one will help. Why not the building inspectors they could say they were unsafe, but no one stands up against certain people in Sheffield even if they don't live in Sheffield....

I don't know about any of the other statements, but I know for a fact that is untrue.

That begs the question....what other statements have you made which are untrue?

Then why did a Realtor who wanted to buy it say so?

Just suffice it too say I know.

That's the thing about BSing on a public forum, you never know who's reading it.

Have any of you been under the floor of the old New Orleans Transfer building and seen the supports. The Realtor did and said it was unsafe and would cost too much to fix. There was a person wanting to buy it until they found that. Check for yourself!!!!!! Get the owners who refuse to fix up Sheffield and stop blaming others who are their friends!!! I really don't care who their friends are. These people have taken over Sheffield for so long that we blame everybody, but them.
I worked at the old location of the New Orleans Transfer throughout 2006 when it was an antique store. I never knew of any problems with the floor and trust me, considering the weight and expense of all those large antique pieces, the owners wouldn't have risked putting their investments in that building on top of a rotted floor.

Then were is the business now. Did you ever look under the floor???? If you haven't looked you don't know. Why would someone who really wanted this building have an inspector look before buying. They did and was told this. Don't buy it.
I said I never knew, not there never was. I would think as much work as the owners did to that building that would have been one of the first of the many repairs/restorations they completed before moving in ten tons of expensive furniture, and I never heard that discussed as a problem or expense. And they were under the building numerous times. As far as where are they now? The same graveyard as every other proprieter that tries to bring life to downtown Sheffield. As far as I know they didn't fall thru any floors and disappear. You might want your home inspector to check for bodies while he is under there though...
