so we still have a woman's award, even tho there are more female college grads than male.  Is the message, women aren't good and strong enough to compete with men?  isn't this sexist?

democrats complain on voter id for blacks.  Again are they saying blacks are capable of doing what whites do?  isn't this racist?

The believe of many conservatives is that women and blacks are capable of what men are. Thus it isn't conservatives that are racist but democrats that are racist.  Democrats believe that women and blacks need special help. Thus saying women and blacks aren't capable.

Some of the members of this forum may not see the end of the curve
but the flattening of that curve is not too far off, as I see it.

You two (and a couple others) are the canaries in the coal mine of bad faith arguments here in this forum.

so you attack us rather than answer the question?   when will the curve end?

My career path was slowed due to minority hiring 20 years ago.  welfare started 50 plus years ago.  college entrance and scholarships have been biased to minorities for I don't know how long.      I don't believe in government deciding winners and losers.   However see reverse discrimination all over the place,  I worked hard, came from a poor family and climbed the ladder.  Then 3 times was stalled so someone with less experience could have an opportunity due to so called minority status.  One of those parent's were wealthy, got to attend a major university.  One stayed home with kids, then entered the work force and passed me with 3 years experience compared to my 20 years.   The final was when I sat in a regional corp. meeting and we were told promotions would go to minorities. all while I and others were being slapped in the face with "white privilage"

I 'came up hard' too...and I sure could have used some of that white or any other kind of privilege.

It was a bad faith argument. Sorry you went through all that. Your situation is not unique or special.  Many americans have been passed over or let go so a company could hire someone younger for less salary. That's just business. Would you be upset if a non minority was hired instead? If yes, it's a bad faith argument against affirmative action. If no, then people like you are the reason for affirmative action in the first place.

A lot of people still have it hard.  Which party is making harder on those people? Why do you vote that way?

there is a big difference between being beat out for a job and it is given to someone to fill quotas.   Government does a terrible job of operating,  They shouldn't be telling private business how to operate.  Affirmative action is government picking winners and losers.  My experience is listed as an example.  When I sat in a meeting and was told promotions would go to minorities, guess what.   Women were considered a minority.  The person in charge of meeting was female.   As I remember 60-70% of managers in attendance were women.  The woman sitting next to me, said "what are our sons to do?".   Telling a private business what to do, how much to pay, who to hire is infringing on their constitutional rights.

Went after a job once with a well known national company, and was told by someone already with the company that I was likely the most qualified applicant. HOWEVER, I was also told that if a female or minority candidate applied that was even remotely qualified that I had no chance.  Sure enough, they hired a female minority that was absolutely clueless, and a disaster in the field.

If no, then people like you are the reason for affirmative action in the first place.

Wrong,,, it's actually the people like you.

I mean...y'all lost a job because a private business ultimately decided to hire who they wanted to hire.  Everyone has been there.

The woman sitting next to me, said "what are our sons to do?".

That's why affirmative action exists. The government isn't the problem. Just because y'all got the short end of the stick one time, doesn't mean everyone else has it easy all the time.

What employer's didn't say to everyone was they couldn't hire who they
needed, they weren't given a choice on a business level.

What?

he said they were ordered by the courts/ government to fill quotas.  this is done by someone who has nothing invested in it.   government infringing on the private rights of business
