Hi to my Forum Friends,
In another discussion, "The Man Who Would Be President," David L. posted a URL for an article written and published in a British newspaper, about John McCain's former wife. Our Friend, JJ, jumped on this with glee. He was so happy that he actually wrote a full sentence before he began copy/pasting.
JJ, you and David seem bothered by the fact that a much younger John McCain, almost thirty years ago divorced his wife. According to the wife, they had a very amiable divorce and are still good friends. Now, let's take a look at what a horrible president a "divorced" man will make when it comes to serving in the White House.
As I recall, Ronald Reagan was first married to Jane Wyman, divorced, and later married slim and beautiful Nancy. He had two children, Maureen and Michael (Michael was adopted), from his marriage to Jane Wyman, and Patti and Ron from his marriage to Nancy Reagan. That is proof that Ronald Reagan could never have been a good president. How could he be, he divorced his first wife, Jane, leaving her with two fatherless children, and married a beautiful starlet named Nancy. Boy, I am sure glad we got that straight BEFORE he became president and ruined our country.
Let me see if I have this straight. John McCain married his wife, Cindy, in 1980. Gee, that means they have been married only 28 years. Well, we all know that this is not stability; you know that marriage will not last -- only 28 years -- yet, they are still smiling. What in the world is wrong with John and Cindy?
Let's take a look at John McCain's family line. His grandfather was a four-star admiral in the U.S. Navy; his father was a four-star admiral in the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and volunteered for combat duty in Vietnam, retiring as a Captain after surviving over five years as a POW in the worst prison camps in North Vietnam.
John McCain's family has served in every American war -- starting with the Revolutionary War for Independence, where his ancestor served on General George Washington's staff. The military base Camp McCain in Mississippi is named for his grandfather's uncle, Major General Henry McCain, who served in World War 1. John McCain's uncle was Brigadier General Bill McCain, who served as an artillery officer in World War 1.
They can trace their family's Christian Presbyterian heritage back to his great-great grandparents, John S. and Elizabeth McCain.
Now, let's look at his worthy opponent in this presidential race, Senator Obama. His father was a Muslim from Kenya; his mother an American girl from Kansas and a political activist. His father divorced his mother (oh, no, his parents were DIVORCED! Forget him!) -- and his mother remarried. She married another Muslim. Young Obama was sent to a militant Muslim school for his early education. He was a member of a church in Chicago for twenty years -- which has sermons which are racist in tone, against whites, according to their pastor's messages. Yet, Obama did not leave the church. I wonder why not?
John McCain served 4 years in Congress and has served 22 years in the Senate. He is currently the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services. He also serves on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, and the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.
Obama served one term in the Illinois State Senate -- and he has served one term in the U.S. Senate. He has never served in the military. In the Senate, he is a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee -- a man who has never worn a military uniform is speaking for the veterans. Okay, if you say so.
Now, regardless of who these two are -- which do you really believe is better qualified to be our president? The only logical answer can be John McCain. Anything else makes no sense.
God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,
