I was a mod for a short while on a now defunct forum (but not admin) and couldn't access anything like that as far as I remember.
I've been a mod on two forums....couldn't read squat.

For the record. I have never given the name of the forum or mod in this thread or in any PM to anyone on this board. I am not momofsix, wrong gender, neither do I know her.

For the record, I do have a forum. It is not related to local gossip, it is geared toward a specific hobby that people all over the south go to.
We have an admin, he is 72 and in bad health. When I asked him about looking at PMs, he told me he didn't know how to use all the admin functions. i actually have a moderator status, but never use it. The board does not require constant attention.

The Shoals Forum,Black Sheep Forum and the Quad-Cities Haven are still going strong and none of the members are going to believe this crap. I may be wrong but I think this has been started by members of a forum that has fallen to the wayside.

For your information I happen to be a member of most of those forums and a few others thankyou. I have no desire to join the Blacksheep forum as I am not involved in witchcraft, necromancy, nor divination.
The Shoals forum is run by a sorehead who was thrown out of here and wants to make everyone else as miserable as he is. He is touchy, quick tempered, and the overall atmosphere of that forum is tense. I have never been able to feel comfortable there as it is clear OB is always paranoid someone is spying on him.
The Haven is great. It's got good people and they don't put up with the crap you see on the shoals forum.

I am a member of all of those forums.I do agree that the Haven is great,but you are very misinformed about the Black Sheep and OB is great,too!

Gramma, I agree, I don't want to argue. This thread is to alert new people to some of the going ons in some forums. The two people I have referenced were new to the forums where they claim their PM's were read. Since at that particular forum there is no notification to new members that their PM's might be read, this thread serves as my public service announcement.

Coming from you I take your insults as a badge of honor. The black sheep is a loose collection of people around a local writer who writes books about having love affairs with ghosts. It goes much deeper than than.

I'm not a member of that forum, but I found it and looked over the portal. It's a FreeForum, not Forumotion. I doubt they can read PMs. Perhaps they are just good judges of character.
It states they have three admins., so how is Original Bama running the show? He couldn't act if two other admins were against him, could he?
You can read the Shoals Neighbor forum if you aren't a member. I see where someone with the initials J.R. stated he was hoping for trouble. Great guy, obviously.

Actually, I think it's someone from another forum that has run off all their members to talk to so they've come here to stir the pot once more. Some people have to have drama to exist. I agree with Joy. I know for sure on this forum that only the ADMIN can see the PM's because "mods" are the Admin -- there is no separation. On other forums, I trust Joy's experience as an admin to know what she is talking about and if she says it aint so -- it aint so because Joy is like a saint or something -- she is good as gold.
