On my way out of a deep hollow, I felt a tug on my left leg. I shook it off and it was a 3 1/2 foot rattler. I'm not going into the detail about first you say it then you do it. But I killed the rattlesnake. That has been over 3 hours ago and I'm still shook up.

I guess this could be a new topic but it is not. I just came out of the woods and I am still shaking.

max, I'm so glad you are okay!!! Do you need some medical attention!??! Not sure what the protocol is, but will check....

ok i'm back.
there is an anti-venom for rattle snake bites- if it punctured skin go to the ER. it said symptoms of toxicities can take several hours to appear.
Not to worry, he didn't puncture skin, I checked that right away. He hit me just above the ankle, I guess, and must have got my boot.
My guess is the temps have been cool at night and he was a little sluggish on his strike.
Believe me if he had hit me higher and found flesh he was big enough to do some serious damage.
